hi dependent on what operating system you have you can turn off Upnp this is what is starting the auto install of the drivers, here is a link for you to download a utillity for this if you have windows xp http://grc.com/UnPnP/UnPnP.htm for windows 7/vista ,To disable it go to Start and type gpedit.msc in the Start Search and press Enter. Once Local Group Policy Editor is open navigate to,Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Driver Installation, Now from the right sidebar open the key named "Turn Off Windows Update Device Driver Search Prompt" and select Enabled and click OK Now Restart your computer or Log Off and then sign back in. That's it. Now Windows bother you any more. Enjoy! hope this helps

SOURCE: I just reformatted my computer and am trying to

As you said that you have reformatted the computer , try to reinstall your USB bus controller drivers because it seems that your USB bus controller is not detecting your USB adapter when connected.

Try this link to download USB 2.0 driver

Same issue.

I paid 30quid brand new for this piece of shipppp it is very frustrating have been trying to install it for hours now, it should be a 15 minute process.

I am using Vista, and when i click "Detect" it does nothing for minutes on end.

Netgear are selling totally useless junk and not giving proper instructions or support.

My WNA3100 adapter won't install; it practically freezes on "Detecting Adapter...". I read that Windows 7 sometimes installs these automatically, and mine did that, but I don't see the Wireless...

If the resource CD does not work then I would recommend you to download the installation software for the adapter from the below link:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17393

Install the adapter using the software available on the link above.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
