Question about Texas Instruments TI-86 Calculator

This should be a simple slope graph, but my calc.(TI-86) won't graph it.

Error 07 Syntax

Means you made a typing error while entering the equation. Using the minus sign instead of the negation sign (change sign) (-), can produce a syntax error. Maybe you need to explicitly type the multiplication sign

y= (-) 1.5*x +3

Try entering it as 3 - 1.5*x

SOURCE: error :invalid DIM

This is my first post on this site, but I've had friends at school ask me about this. Apparently I'm like a calculator genius or something...

One solution I know of is clearing the RAM. Sounds strange, doesn't it? But it fixed three different calcs.

Be sure to back up or archive important data before doing this.

SOURCE: Graph feature is not working on TI-83

you have one of your stat plots on that is what is messing it up. So either turn off the stat plots. Or just reset your calculator. hit 2nd then the plus (+) key then 7 then 1 then 2. Good luck

SOURCE: MATH Graph Style Icons

go to apps menu, go to transform app. click uninstall and go to y= screnn and should be a slash on the left and you should be able to graph more than one equation.

Read on how to set up calculator for graphing. And check your input.

Select two points P1 and P2 on the line. Read their coordinates P1(X_1,
Y_1), and P2(X_2, Y_2). If the points are given to you that is even better: you will not have to approximate their coordinates.

The slope of the straight line that passes through P1 and P2 is the ratio s=(Y_2-Y_1)/(X_2-X_1).

A slope is a number and cannot be graphed. The line that has the slope can be graphed if you have its complete equation y=slope*x + initial value.

To graph a curve on the TI84 open the Y= editor, type in the second member (right side) of the function say on line Y1= then press the Graph function key.

You do not graph a slope as the slope is just one number that characterises a linear function. Rather you need to draw the linear function.

Press the Y= key to enter the function editor. On line Y1= type in a legitimate function such as y1= 3x-2 and press ENTER. Press the GRAPH key to view the graph.

To clean the slate so to speak, just reset the RAM.

Calc

- Press [2nd][+] to access the (MEM)ory management function
- Press [7:Reset]
- Press [1:All Ram]
- Press [2:Reset]
- Press [CLEAR] to erase the "RAM cleared" Message

look under math calc and there should be an x^3 key

maybe try changing the small memory battery inside, I think its a cr1616 or cr1620. If this doesn't work use it as a paperweight.

Hello,

Use the TIconnect or TIGraphlink software to reinstall the programs. You will find the programs in the TI Program archives.

Hello,

Use the stat menu. Enter 1st member of a pair in List1, Enter 2nd member of pair in List2. Graph the data as a scatter plot in stats plots.

Hope it helps.

Most likely you're trying to graph a function while you have the stat plot turned on. Turn off the stat plot and try it again.

you should first put it in the form y=mx+b

m-slope

b-y-intercept

x + 2y=4

-x -x 1subtract x from both sides

2y=4-x

/2 /2 2 divide both sides by 2 (to get y alone)

y=2- x/2 now you can put that into your calc. (Y= button)it would like like this on your screen Y1=2-X/2 (X is found under mode)

next hit graph

2nd, TABLE will give you a list of x-values and y-values

hoped i didn't leave anything out and i hope this helped
