Question about Electrolux Central Vacuum
E130f central vac system

SOURCE: RENAISSANCE HOSE/VAC
THE RENAISSANCE IS KNOWN FOR HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CIRCUIT BOARD IN THE HANDLE.YOU'LL NOTICE THAT MODELS THAT CAME AFTER THAT HAD SLIDING SWITCHES. UNFORTUNATELY THE NEW HOSE DESIGN WON'T WORK ON YOUR MACHINE BECAUSE THE CIRCUIT BOARD INSIDE THE MACHINE WAS CHANGED TOO.AERUS MAY OR MAY NOT STILL MAKE THE PARTS YOU NEED. OTHER WISE LOOK ON E-BAY FOR A NEW HOSE.
ELECTROLUX FOOLISHLY REPLACED IT'S FLAGSHIP STEEL MACHINE WITH THIS DESIGN...A FEW YEARS LATER ALL THEY HAD WORTH SELLING WAS THEIR NAME, HENCE THE NEW NAME AERUS.

There are several handle types. The pump style has about 8 phillips screws that hold the handle together. Make sure it is not connected to the wall as some have 120V cords or direct connect pins to supply power to a motor driven brush.
The two halves will separate and if it has slip rings the tube will lift up out with the hose.
If this is a low voltage hose, there are three tabs at the base of the handle you press in and pry out the end piece. You will need to remove the switch contacts before the hose will pull out. Remove the phillips screw that holds the switch trim in place and lift out. This will allow the cover to be removed to lift the contacts off the slip rings and the hose will drop out.
Hope this helps!

If the hose is non-wired then you can fix this yourself. When you Plug the cuff into your wall inlet does the vacuum turn on automatically? If so then you should be able to trim the hose with no ill effects other than losing eight inches of cleaning area.
If the hose has a switch on it's handle that turns the vacuum on and off, you will probably need a technician to fix the hose. Some wired hoses even have High Voltage lines in them and should never be taken apart.

Do Not Cut the hose!
It has wiring inside to control the vac and power head. This is a swivel handled hose with both low and high voltage contacts in it. The same wiring which gives the hose its ribbing, is conducting current for two applications,
If your hose has a switched handle, a very experienced, trained AERUS Electrolux tech will a have a tough time doing this job and will likely refuse as it is not recommended per company policy.
You can purchase a shrink wrap tube which will prolong the life of the hose if it has not collapsed, however this is a short term fix.
I could walk you through this as I have done it before ...Unfortunately, even if you were able to dismantle the hose successfully you would not be able to purchase the wire terminals which you would cut off the end when shortening . Sorry its a proprietary part.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your advice. Looks like I will have to purchase another hose."
You can check ebay, they have lots of electrolux central vac hoses and you can get one with the appropriate handle to attach to your power head and wands and other attachments.
