Upgrade of router giving connection problems

I have recently upgraded my wireless router to a BT HomeHub 2.0 and am having problems connecting to the router wirelessly. The adaptor worked perfectly ok with the previous router but fails to connect to this one. I can connect to the internet via LAN so the router is working and the led's on the adaptor are flashing so it looks as if thats ok aswell. I'm sure its a communication problem between the wireless adaptor and the router but I'm not knowlegable enough to find where the problem is. Any ideas?

You need to check the settings on the wireless adaptor to make sure it is the same as the new router. If you had set the old router with a password, then you need to set the new one the same way. If the new router is not set with a password and the connection is open and not secured, then you need to change the settings of the computer wireless adaptor.

Can i put a Internet dongle on my home PC and connect to the Internet i don't have a bt line.

If you have a wireless router then yes you can use a wifi dongle. The only reason BT users can is that BT comes with a free wireless router (bt homehub) Max

My Sitecom 300N repeater resularly loses its connection to my BT homehub. I think this is when the H homehub goes down sometimes. Resetting the Sitecom from scratch is a pain but resolves the problem. 3...

I also had this problem when the BTHomeHub goes down, power loss etc. I seem to have fixed the problem by changing the wireless config in the homehub to use a fixed channel, (the default is automatic which means it changes each time it restarts). This has been running trouble free for a couple of weeks through a number of power outages.

Can't help with Qs 2&3, get the same problems but less of an issue now that the thing works all the time.

BT HomeHub wireless router which cannot connect to the XBox 360

your router may have incorect connection settings. what i mean is that your router may have security on that rejects connecting to adapter. check if the xbox can connect to the internet via ethernet cable. this will tell for sure if the 1 the adapter cannot read the signal or 2 the adapter is not able read any signals. to test if its the adapter, try searching for other signals.if you find any other signal it means your router. is rejecting to send the signal to the xbox.

Wireless not working from netgear wg311 to a new bt homehub2

Hi Backatya,

Check what kind of security you upgraded BThomehub 2 uses. Since the hub supports more security-types then your adapter does, I suspect an incompatibility there.

You can solve it by connecting through cable and changing security to WEP or WPA (not WPA2).
