Yes. Comcast remotes can operate the tv. I installed from 2006 through 2011 and I THINK the magnavox code is 0054 for the remote with the grey "OK" button or 10054 for the red "OK" button. I'm probably wrong, but google comcast remote codes, it's on comcast's website somewhere. Also, you'll need to unlock the channel +/- for the tv. Again, google it, but it can be done. Used to do it for people all the time.

go to www.comcast.net and click on the Help link, you should be able to find the remote codes and instructions on how to program it...also do a google search for COMCAST REMOTE CODES.

The answer depends whether its a Comcast DVR Remote or a regular one. The DVR codes are 4 digit -- the others are 5 digit. I got 0060 to work for my DVR remote.
