Open Question

Sony lbt-d707 I have a sony hifi set LBT-D707. Currently I have a tape in the left cassette player which I cannot get to open up so I can remove the tape. The button with which to open the cassette player is blocked halfway pressing (compared with the button for the right cassette player). How do I get this cassette player to open, so I can save my tape?

Hi. Make sure the flywheel turns freely and that the capstan pin and pressure roller are clean. If this is OK then it is more than likely that the belt is stretched, dried out or generally worn. These parts only have a certain usable life and are quite cheap to replace.

SOURCE: my sony LBT-ZUX10D midi hifi system disc tray

This can be due to many reasons and for a start you must be able to check the power to the loading motors, the loading drive IC's. If there is no input command to the IC,- check the voltages before eject , play is pressed and on rest.- to compare and confirm a input loss. If so the processor controller section is a suspect. Also if the mode settings are out of sync , the loading will not work.
Cannot rule out a damaged mechancial link, gear or drive. Need to start checking with all these tips after the mechanism is removed.
Take care with connectors and connections, make a note of your working so as not to forget the sections when fitting back.

Cassette drives will not play

You may have an issue with the cassette deck on your Sony LBT-D550. The cassette deck uses a belt drive system to operate the cassette mechanism; if belts are broken, it can cause the deck to malfunction.
All the belts may have failed at the same time, but it's also possible that there is another issue causing the problem. Some possible causes of a cassette deck malfunction include:
  • A problem with the cassette mechanism itself, such as a jammed cassette or worn-out gears.
  • A problem with the cassette deck's motor, which a malfunctioning capacitor or other components could cause.
  • A problem with the cassette deck's control board, which a malfunctioning switch or other components could cause.
To determine the cause of the problem, a professional technician should look at the cassette deck.

I have a remote which doesn't work anymore. (20 year old sony LBT-V502 hifi installation and it's standard RM-S530 remote.) What can I do? is it possible to buy a new one?

That is really old. Once you have tried fresh batteries there is not much more to do.

Amazingly there is one for auction on eBay. Good luck. Personally though, I would not buy it used at that price, I'd get a nice new hifi, maybe DAB radio,
