It sounds like the wheel bearings need lubrication or they might not have a fitting to be able to lubricate. If there is no way to lubricate the bearings, they will have to be replaced with new wheel bearings.

what kind of lub do I use? or should I use 3&1 oil?

  • Louis F Hoholek Jr Jun 12, 2014

If there is a grease fitting, use the same grease to lube a car. If no grease fitting, use motor oil or synthetic motor oil. If this does not get rid of the noise, you will have to replace the wheel bearings.

My brakes seem to be lockup they we not release

If you can't hear the brake release solenoid working then you need to find the wire harness on the motor and locate the two smaller diameter wires. Those are for the brakes. They may have become disconnected either at the wheel end or the controller end.

The battery on my wrangler will not charge

Measure the voltage on the charger terminals. It has to be 29 volts when not connected to the scooter. If the charger in an onboard type the fuse for it in in back of the scooter. Download the service manual from Pride's website. It has detailed instructions.

Pride Wrangler scooter sometimes bucks and kicks when going up hill.

When your going up this hill is the bucking happening in slow or fast ? I only ask this cause sometimes your throttle arm can get stuck ,Make sure when you give it a command that its doing what it suppose to if it stutters with just a little command or bucks .Your looking at a new throttle potentiometer . This happens because of ware and tear your constantly holding on this throttle arm when your driving going over bumps and what not it tends to put wear on it.Not a uncommon problem.

Hope I was of some help ,Have a good day.

My Pride Hurricane PMV will not go forward or backwards when I engage the trottle all I get is a click but it will not move. The battery meter shows fully charged.

Make sure that the manual brake release/freewheel lever is in the DRIVE position. The click indicates the brakes are being released but the motors are not kicking in. I hope this helps- good luck!

My Pride Wrangler PMV will not move. Battery is fully charged, lights and horn work. My repair person said the controller was sending out an error code on the throttle so he ordered and no change in read...

Bailey I think you said that the throttle pot was replaced and you are still getting the problem? Did your guy also check the speed pot? They can cause the same problem as a bad throttle pot. The controller is the brains and yes they are expensive but I question $1500. No they fail very seldom and usually its another part. How old is the scooter? There is a one year warranty on the controller. The dealer cost for the controller is about 1/3 of what you were quoted. Maybe a little wrangling could reduce your cost. But I would want all things checked first. Hope this helps you

My wrangler has new batteries everything lights up motor engaged but does not move no response

there is a small 'engagement rod' that is needed and I hate to say this, but they do fall out if the unit is used on rough ground. Look under the unit also to make sure that the tires have free motion, ie.. free of grass, wound up twigs, anything that could block the turn of a wheel, that will halt the vehicle also.... Good luck.... If you were pleased with your answer, please remember to vote. Take care Guy :)

Pride hurricane pmv just replaced batteries everything was fine went up and down the driveway (flat surface) and it stopped working

Are any of the lights coming on? If so, are any flashing, and if so, how many times or is it constant? Check to make sure the freewheel lever is not bumped which will cause a no-go status. Put in freewheel and place firmly back in drive (located at the rear of the scooter).

Go back in and make sure all of the snap connections are tight. Undo them and redo them, don't rely on a visual inspection. Check the circuit breaker; push it in to reset. If it has tripped, you will feel a click when you push. Check all the fuses.
