Frozen CDR420 I am a choir teacher who is not technical at all and has not had the time to spend reading the user manual. I had the machine set up to record vocal tests where all I did was turn it on and have the kids press the flashing green play/pause button to record their vocal tests. Friday evening, I came in to try to record vocal parts for new music. I began recording then decided that I should grade the vocal tests already there so I could erase the hard drive and have lots of space to do my parts recording. I began pressing buttons to try to see how I might erase the hard drive (before grading the tests.) I'm not sure what I did but now the green play/pause button is lit but I cannot get anything to come up on the display panel above the power button. I also cannot get the green light to go off by pressing the stop button or to flash by pressing the record button. It's just frozen and I don't just want to pull the plug because there are several vocal tests on the machine that I need to grade. Help, please?!

I want to delete old tracks on my recorder so I have room on the hard drive to record another meeting tonight.....When I press the Edit Menu button, nothing happens.....it's like it's frozen.

Nothing happens when I hit any of the "Control Buttons (File Dir, Info, Jump, etc....)

I've tried unplugging the machine, but it doesn't help.

How do iget the material feeder to come up, it won't feed material on its own

Are you lowering the presser foot? The lever is an up/down feature on the very back of the machine behind the needle.

Are the feed dogs (the little teeth under the fabric) set on "darning?" If so, the machine will not move the fabric under the needle. There is a knob or setting somewhere on your machine for this function.

You should get a user's manual, if one is available, search for:

Make + Model + the word "Manual"

or contact manufacturer support

or at least spend some time watching sewing machine videos on YouTube.

Is there anybody out there...?

1) You can use Sony's Sonic Stage software to do a digital transfer of the mini disc to a .wav file. Sonic Stage is slow, but it is a very high quality digital transfer.

2) It's not like you are digging a ditch and getting worn out. So what if it is a real-time transfer? Find something to do. Read the New York Times on line. Make coffee. Call a friend.

3) There is nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned analog transfer (using the MD's analog output) into your computer's audio recorder (such as Audacity) - which gives you a digital file. That will be just fine for practice CDs for other choir members.

4) You can buy an MD deck or portable with a digital output - such as a Sony 940 or 640. There are many others.

My needle is not lining up and down to the bobbin

Your machine is out of time. Your technical manual should have instructions on how to time it. If not a sewing machine mechanic can re-time the machine for you for a nominal cost. The problem usually stems from breaking a needle that missed its spot on the bobbin case.

How do I clean my elliptical trainer?

You will notice that dirt accumulates on both the wheels and track. First, I suggest reading you user manual. To avoid dirt build-ups, I recommend wiping the machine after each use. This is not instead of a cleaning, but will limit the time you spend cleaning the machine. If your manual is not helpful, I found a great article called "Keeping Your Elliptical Machine Clean" - this should help.

Marantz cdr420 recorded media stored on harddrive.played back all fine unplugged now it says no valid files when i try to burn the disc but the drive reads full.

If you are attempting to burn mp3 files as an audio CD, then that's the problem. You cannot burn audio CDs from MP3 files. You have to burn MP3 files as a data CD and not as an audio CD. See excerpt taken from page 33 in the CDR420 user guide. "Prepares CDs that can be played on standard CD players. Compact Disc Digital Audio (CDDA) uses uncompressed PCM, .wav files. The CDR420 does not convert MP3 files to PCM so MP3 files are ignored if you choose AUDIO as the CD TYPE"
