I have a Fatal Alert that comes up as, "memorymgr.c.line 4384 free handle". Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it. My palm M125 is not working cause of this error.

I fixed mine this evening by doing a hard reset. First I removed the card just to make sure I didn't harm the data on it. Everything else is lost in the memory of the handheld by doing this but at least you still have a gizmo that works! Others have suggested to do stuff and then do a HotSync -- lovely, but the HotSync was also seized shut!

To do a hard reset:

  • While holding the power button, use the tip of the stylus (or a similar object
without a sharp tip) to gently press and release the reset button inside the hole
on the back of your handheld.
  • Wait for the Palm Powered™ logo to appear, and then release the power button.
  • When you see the message that warns you about erasing all of the info on your handheld, Press Up on the 5-way navigator to finish the reset and show the touchscreen.
  • NOTE: this last step will give you an option of pressing any key to simply do a soft reset. That's nice if it works because you don't lose any data that way. However, didn't work for me!

Hold the middle button UP while tapping the reset button on the back. This should get it restarted.  You probably need to delete some stuff taking up memory.

SOURCE: when i try to sync i get a Fatal Alert

To get rid of the Fatal Alert, perform the Hard Reset on the device.

Note:
A hard reset will erase everything on your device. All your data will be removed, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings.

Follow the steps below to perform a hard reset on your device.

  1. Open your handheld.
  2. Press and hold the power button on the top panel of the handheld.
  3. While holding the power button, use the tip of your stylus or an unfolded paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip) to gently press and release the reset button. (The reset button is the tiny hole labeled Reset on the back of the handheld.)
  4. Wait for the Palm Powered logo to appear; then release the power button.
  5. When prompted that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld, press Up to complete the hard reset.
  6. When prompted, complete the steps to align the screen.

Fatal Alert problem

We prayed and asked God to save the data even though we had to do a hard reset. Data was preserved entirely! For this we give thanks--and praise.
