SOURCE: lexmark x1270 paper jam
hah - I had this problem on my old 1270 - there is a jam - its just very small - mine was caused by half a peanut lodged under a pickup roller - take the back paper guide off and check carefully - it might just be a piece of grit - the paper will skew away from the point of the jam so see where it skews and check around there
hope this helps, cheers

I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy
paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print
button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it
will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I
have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there
over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this
way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps.

#2 works for an x3470, but jostling the small cylinder that accepts the paper (nudge it gently toward the printer) seems to be what pulls back the microswitch...

1. Remove
the sheets of paper from the feeder.
2. Try to reach for the paper jam.
3. If paper jam can't be reached, open the printer cover to access the cartridge area. You may be able to get a better hold of the paper jam in the cartridge area.
4. Remove the paper jam and make sure not to tear or leave any torn piece of paper in the printer.
When paper jam is clear, try to print
a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
