it seems the lens is bad

you can open the top cover and take the cd out.

have you tried cleaning the laser at all?

If the DVD is connected to the TV properly using the yellow, white & red AV cable and the TV is switched to AV and there is still no picture, plug the yellow lead from the back of the DVD player into the green socket. If you see a black and white picture now the DVD output is on Progressive Scan mode. See user manual to turn off Progressive Scan mode.

If the player does not play even known working discs (both CD and DVD), you may want to try first to have the lens cleaned out with a disc cleaner which should be available in most DVD stores. If that does not work you may want to open the device if it is out of warranty and inspect the drive and the head. See if the lens is actually moving or may need replacement.

Your 'laser lens" is probably dirty.

Sounds like the lens went out. If the dvds played fine b4 and lens cleaner doesn't help, it is most definitely the lens.

REstart the system and reinstall the DVD Player program that let the DVD Play.

maybe the DVD disc is required some codecs to play. try another player such as VLC player, or install the DVD player provided in your laptop DVD Rom. You can search and Download VLC player for free just search in google.
