hello, A dryer around that age it can be a few issues. If your planning on repairing it i would replace the rollers and idler pulley. If you want to you can also just try greasing the rollers and idler pulley it should help.

have you checked the out let pipe if its blocked with fluff or the inlet grill is blocked thats were the problem is,,,if they are both clear its likley to be the over heat censors playing you up,,, there on the inside of the dryer,,,

blow lint out of motor best with compressed air don't bother with vacuum...waist of time

this sounds like a p.c.b fault.a component on the control board is overheating and shutting down,then cooling and passing current etc.you will need the model no and serial no..then try a site called whitegoods.co.uk
