The common cause of the 5 blinks on this model is one of the CRT boards on the tubes, or the drive voltage from the A board is not correct.

We have an 50 Sony SXRD and the green light started to blink, lost picture and then the red light blinked 5 times. Any idea why and what can we do to fix this?

sounds like a bad lamp
dose the tv buzz a few times if so it just needs a bulb

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA Tv - LAMP blinking 11 times

Sony tv has self protection program. The red Led blinking light indicate the probable cause location. For this model it is either 2,4 or 5 flashes every 3 second. Please check the blinking again

My tv screen wont turn on,it makes a sound fromthe back that sounds like it's going to turn on but it dose not.And it blinks a red light were it says stand by more than two times.

2 time standby light blink is an error code that shows problem section in TV.
Model number and brand name of TV would help to understand that error code.

THE POWER STAND BY LIGHT IS FLASHING RED 4 TIMES

Anything less than 5 blinks is major trouble. More likely vertical IC and circuit failure. Picture has been muted or turned off by TV. If Stand By light was blinking 5 times the Stand By might have came out self-diagnosis function or mode.
Contact Sony Service Tech for service adjustment to fix problem.

Stand by time is flashing tv will not start

no the tv has no battery for memory.the memory is supplied by the 5 volt standby.the tv must be plugged in to maintain the 5 volts to keep its memory.

Hey there,
I've had my Sony KF-50WE610 for approx. 4years now and have just experienced the prob you described (though I didn't think to count the number of red blinks). I called Sony TV technical support (888-772-7669, #3 for TV/digital cameras, #1 for TV, then #1 again I think). They said that if the power/standby light blinks 5x, that means there's something wrong with the lamp driver and service will be required. Needless to say, I better go home and count my red blinks! 5 Blinks usually means the horozontal circuit has problems and parts need to be replaced. unplug power to reset

Tv turns self off when turned on

Does it blink a certain amount of blinks pause a second or just blink constantly with no pauses? Let me know it will blink a code if its going into protected shutdown. And it will blink constantly for another reason.

did you clear the code by hitting display channel 5 volume up then power then press 8 enter or look at sony blinking codes to reset to factory settings
