Trade a financial car

Hi. Okay I got an 06 Nissan altima. It cost me $ 15.000 I just found out the car worth only $4.000 what can I do to get the dealer to get me a better car for the price or reduce the cost. I wanted to have someone else take over the car sign some type of contact saying they will take over and do the payments etc when paid off I give them the title. Is that a good idea or not.

Not a good idea! When you do that you still own the car. If it's in an accident you are responsible for damages and lawyers fees. How long have you owned the car? If you bought it new then that's about what it's worth now. If you bought it a few weeks ago you got stiffed by the dealer.

I wonder what a tag heuer wk1112 is worth and is it any point and get innsurense for it. it has not been yust seens it was given to my dad years ago for long and true service?? please give me an onest...

You can get a new one from a reputable seller online for about $900....so I would put a market value of approx $700 or so for yours (considering it has traded hands at least once - when your father acquired it). In my opinion unless you get an automatic Tag Heuer watch, which hold up their value much better and cost more too, there is no point in getting theft/damage insurance on this watch.

If you do end up getting a good discounted premium from a reputable insurance company that will not flinch when it comes to paying up, then maybe there is value in buying it.

Hope this helps.

Broken glass and new strap

Hi Chris,

Skagen watches have very thin domed crystals and they do break. Because of how thin they are it doesn't take a lot of pressure to break the crystal.

Crystals are not something any watch company covers in their warranty.

The crystal can be replaced. Either Skagen can replace them or a qualified watchmaker can. Prices vary and it would depend on how much you are willing to spend as to if it was worth it to you.

I have only had my carmin forerunner 50 for 4 months and the battery on the watch is saying lo! what battery do I need to replace it?

Take your watch to your nearest watch shop and ask them to do it for you.

You can get into difficulty replacing batteries and it is not worth the risk for the small cost saving.

Crystals framing my Haurex watch face are falling out.

Hi, im a jeweller myself. The problem with jewellers and crystals is simple. Its a lot of work to replace something that doesnt cost a lot to buy (the crystals, not the watch). Swarovski are a commonly known producer of crystals, but you will probably find that simulation gemstones such as Cubic Zirconia are commonly used in newer watches.

I specialise in gemstone setting, and can also work with simulation stones and crystals, but it takes much longer to reset stones into a stainless steel watch case than into gold or platinum so the labour costs are much higher.

It depends how much the watch is worth as to how much you spend on repairs.

Hope this helps
