I have a Samsung rs21!!! it wont cool in either compartment. when I plug it in the compressor fan does a quarter turn then stops. the compressor runs for about 30 seconds then cuts out? any ideas plea

I have checked all the usual suspects inside. thermal fuse. defrost sensor and heater and fans

Most likely the start relay on the compressor that changes from start windings to run windings. the compressor will run for about 30 seconds on start windings then click out on internal thermal overload.
this can be confirmed by turning it on and letting it do the 30 second run then when it stops just wait and see if it cuts in and tries to run again (usually takes about 5 min) the second time it cuts in it wil most likely not run for as long (usually about 10 seconds). if this is what it does get a new compressor start/run relay.
as for the fan flick it with your finger and see if it spins freely.

Be sure the fridge is plugged in and getting power. The light should come on when you open the door.
Check the thermostat to make sure it hasn't been turned way down by mistake. If your fridge/freezer thermostat isn't working,
Be sure the vents on the back of the freezer compartment aren't blocked by boxes of ice cream or frozen vegetables-the vents have to be clear for cold air to circulate.
Vacuum the coils under or behind the fridge. Clogged coils can cause poor cooling.
Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won't have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. Clean the fan blades and spin the fan by hand to see if it's stuck. Plug in the fridge and make sure the fan runs when the compressor is running. If the fan doesn't run, replace it.

If compressor is constantly clicking, you can try replacing relay and overload that plugs into compressor.

Should the fan operate all the time in my refrigerator

Most of the time it runs only when the compressor is running. In other words compressor and fans will run together when the fridge thermostat ask for cold and stops together when thermostat is satisfied. In newer fridges some time inside fan (evaporator fan) might PERIODICALLY run without compressor to circulate little cool air to fridge compartment from freezer compartment.

This could be simply the defrost timer is stuck in defrost. I see you mentioned fan but stopped there. If one fan has stopped I need to know before we do these steps Click Here=> Maytag MTF2155GRW Control Panel item number 15 is the defrost timer and should have a hole below it entering the fresh food compartment. Sometimes there is a plastic plug covering hole to hide its opening. Pry plug away and use a flathead screwdriver to turn timer clockwise until compressor either stops or starts. If the compressor stops leave like this for up to 30 minutes. This should be manual defrost. and if it does not come out of defrost gently turn timer again slowly until compressor restarts. If you need to do this the timer will need replaced. Part number=> 68233-3 Now if both candensor and evaporator fans are running I believe you may just have a problem with your start relay/overload part=>12002782 and run capacitor part=> 65889-4 The top of compressor will be very hot if that is the case. Here is a photo location=> Maytag MTF2155GRW Compressor Components number 4 and 6 in photo. If any fans do not work they must be repalaced, Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My samsung will run fine for about 4 hours and then will get too cold. if i unplug it and then plug it back in it will then work fine for another 4 hours. please advise thank you

if you a have samsung model
SRS 2026 2027 2028 OR 2029 , then you probaly need to fit the rs21 repair kit - as the srs models are the earlier version of rs21 - and suffers from the same isssues .

there is an extra component you will need as well as rs21 kit - if you look under most of the videos there is a ebay link which takes you to ebay shop where you can pruchase samsung spares

does it cool and then stop when it does this is there frost in the fzr compartment or ice build up. Does the fans run at all do you hear the compressor and compressor fan running. Just need more info

These usually have one compressor and an evaporator on each side with a fan. check the fans first then the defrost timer, heater and limit thermostat.

Samsung side by side fridge/ freezer model number RS21NGRS . Fridge side is not cooling . The fan was making a noise and has now stopped but the temp light is flashing how do i sort this problem thans.

Hi, there is a known fault with the Samsung RS21 units. If you unit is less than 5 years in luck, it is covered by the Extended warranty they have put in place. Apparantly this was featured on BBC watchdog!. i've had the same problem and had it fixed free of charge by Samung. Either raise a service request on the Samsung uk web site, www.samung.com/uk or call the customer services on 0845 7267864 and explain you description. the noise is an ice build up which stops the internal fan pushing cold air around the fridge. the bootom of the fridge , in the drawers is cold?
