SC 863 indicates that there are bad sectors in your machines hard drive. You have two options. First, try to have your hard drive re-formatted (you do this through the control panel in the service mode) but beware, any documents stored in the document server will be deleted and so will the scan to folder pre-programmed in the machine.
Second option, assuming the re-formatting did not work, would be replacing the hard drive altogether
Hdd formatting procedures:
service mode entry: press clear modes, press 107 then hold down the clear stop red button for 10 seconds, screen will then change. select copier, then upper right side select "sp direct" then punch in 5832.
Execute 5832 001 to format the HDD.
