The icon with the 2 lines (top and bottom) turns on both the top and bottom elements. The icon with 1 line at the bottom turns on just the bottom element; this is the bake element. The icon with the single line at the top is for broiling.

The manual for the Bush AE56SW is available from Argos here: http://argos.scene7.com/is/content/Argos/4893945_R_D001pdf . The oven knob control diagram is on page 8.

I hope this helps.

Is it dangerest when your oven beeps f2

Typically an oven beeps when the interior temperature macthes the temperature where you set the dial. This is an audible signal to that fact and particularly helpful when you need to pre-heat the oven. For example it you want to cook something at 350 degrees, you set the dial at 350. When your oven reaches that temperature it beeps to let you know. Some cooking directions tell you to preheat your oven. In that case, when you set the dial to 350 and wait for the beep...you know you are safe to start your cooking process because the oven is now pre-heated to the temperature you set. If your recipe requires a pre-heated oven, and you don't wait for the beep, your taking a guess at what temperature you're cooking your food. Additionally, if you want to know what the internal temperature of oven is and your oven is heated...you simply turn you dial setting and listen for the beep. Again, if you set your oven at 350 and you want to know how hot your oven is... slowly turn the dial setting. If the oven beeps at 275 then that's how hot your oven has gotten. To let it finish heating to 350 just reset the dial and wait for the beep.

Model no. SA420X oven. Have rubbed off the pictures that show the choice of cooking eg. super fan forced or fan forced, conventional etc. I need to see a picturs of the dial as it isn't in the manual

I dont know if this helps but if you turn the dial to the different settings and leave if for 5 to 10 minutes between testing you should be able to figure out what does what. Conventional generally means no fan forced. Fan forced generally means fan with one to two elements. Super fan forced generally is fan with two to three elements. You should be able to see or feel most elements. Sometimes the one or two elements in the bottom are actually located beneath the oven floor.

Turn off the timer on an old imperial st george

I have this exact same oven and this "feature" annoys me no end. To turn it off ... turn the clock dial to PAST the time that the timer dial shows. EG: If your timer dial is showing 6, turn the clock dial so that it rolls past 6 o'clock. This will pop out the timer dial and thus turn off the timer, allowing you to use the oven normally.

To stop accidentally pushing/turning that timer dial, I removed the knobs. Good luck.
