Ice maker not working and top of freezer not always frozen

Because top of freezer not always frozen we turned it all off for 24 hours. At that time the ice maker was working. Put the ice maker back and it didn't work. Took it out and put it back and it worked. By mistake it was taken out again and now can't make it work.

When you put it back in for the last time does it do anything? Does it make any noise or movement. If it does then check to see if water is coming into the ice maker. if it is not then you may have a water inlet problem

Testimonial: "Water does come through. Could it be the fan (if there is one) in the freezer?"

SOURCE: maytag ice2o won't make ice

theharrisont,  You state that...." ice maker stopped working after it flooded our kitchen floor."  The water works because the water fountain dispenser uses a separate part of the Water Valve. The ice maker portion of the water valve is defected and the entire Water Valve Assembly will have to be replaced.  Your problem is the dual Water Valve Assembly which is located on the rear bottom area of the refrigerator (follow the water inlet line from the wall to the refrigerator...the water inlet line connects to the Water Valve Assembly).  The significant info which you provided was that the ice maker flooded the kitchen which indicates the Water Valve Assembly is defected. Failure to replace the Water Valve Assembly will result in the same problem of flooding at some later date.  Replacing the dual Water Valve Assembly is just one step of several steps necessary to correct the problem.  You will also have to temporarily remove the ice maker from the freezer (usually a couple of screws hold it to the wall and a quick disconnect electrical plug) and put it in the sink and run warm water over to remove any ice.  Before you reinstall the ice maker you must check the Water Fill Tube that dumps the water into the ice maker.  Because you said that the ice maker flooded the kitchen, then the Water Fill Tube is probably filled solid with ice which must be removed.  A hair dryer is a quick way to achieve this.  Blow hot air directly into the end of the Water Fill Tube which dumps the water into the ice maker.  Note:  Use a long screw driver to insert into the Water Fill Tube to break loose any ice and continue to use the hair dryer to help to remove any ice. This should correct your problem

SOURCE: Maytag plus MSD2756GEQ ice maker not working

I had similar problem in that the fan in the freezer that blows freezing air into freezer and over to fridge was not working. Fridge was running warm (over 40 deg and freezer up near 20) Service call around $160 with new fan.

SOURCE: my ice cream won't stay frozen in my freezer.

Hi: Meat and other frozen foods will be rock solid at 32degrees. Ice cream will be soft it needs 0degrees to be hard. It sounds like your freezer is above 0 degrees. You tried the adjustments. Make sure the coils on the bottom are clean. They will warm a ref if they are dirty. A coil brush from the hardware store or a air compressor (plan on dusting the house when done. Just vaccuuming the front isn't enough. That's an older model but one of the controls affects both the freezer and fresh food. When it's running turn one down; if it turns off the compressor it affects both. The other control is just an air balance, to direct how much air gets to each compartment. I hope this helps, Jeff

WHY DOES MY ICE MAKER ONLY MAKES ICE SOMETIME

Are the cubes normal - the right size, not hollow? Once frozen and the harvest cycle begins, does it take longer than a couple minutes for the cubes to drop? After the ice drops does it fill with water each time?
If everything checks OK the last thing is very important. The rate at which an ice maker produces cubes depends on the temperature of the freezer - the colder it is the quicker the cycle. Try nudging the controls up a bit and wait 24 hours.

Ice maker is not producing ice. the water dispenser on the door is working just fine. turned off the freezer to see if the line to the icemaker was frozen, still no luck. ideas??

Did you leave the freezer off for a couple days then turn it back on? if you did that, then waited 24 hours it sounds like you did a good job on checking to see if the line was frozen. Then i'm really starting to suspect the ice maker itself is either not cycling because its bad or maybe it is and the water valve is not producing water to the ice maker. Those are the two directions id take it at that point.

Ice maker will not fill with water

Water might be frozen in the tube that fills the ice tray. Check the tube and if it's frozen shut, use a hair dryer to heat it until the ice piece melts out. Your icemaker should work after the fridge has been closed for 24 hours to cool back down.

Cuisinart Ice Cream Freezer Bowls Not Freezing Anymore

I would take the freezer bowls out of the freezer, run them both under the sink to thaw both bowls out, dry both bowls thoroughly, and then set them both on the counter so that the liquid settles toward the bottom of the freezer bowls. After 1 hour, place the bowls FLAT back into the freezer - don't forget to wrap them in a plastic grocery bag or some other sort of plastic bag. Try to make ice cream again after 24 hours or more of freezing. Let me know if this works, so I can pass the good news along to others.

Ice maker not working

If you press and hold the button on the ice maker for seconds it will go into test mode and do a complete cycle. Try this and it should correct the problem. If you think the arm is frozen, you could use a hair dryer on it for a couple of minutes then do the test.
