My understanding is that you shorted the power board, right? If this is the case, see if you can locate the area of the "damage". Many times there is more than one fuse on the power board. Figure out if you damaged the primary or secondary circuit. Usually there are borders (broken lines) to indicate them. Check all the diodes using diode mode of your tester. Then start checking resistors (for diodes and resistors you don't need to desolder them), then desolder each capacitor and measure capacitance of each. I am sure one of the capacitors is bad. Usually the TV will have standby mode as the result of that or blinking lights.

You can repair your TV by checking out www.shopjimmy.com. Parts or whole boards can be purchased. I spent 36 dollars there and fixed my TX myself. 36 dollars against the price of a new TVis motive enough to try to fix it yourself.

Hello,

The power supply board of the television is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I hope this will help in solving the problem....

When I try turning on the TV, all i see is a little red (non-blinking) light. Maybe a standby light?

Fault to its main board. No start signal comes from it to power board to get it started. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

TV flickers then turns off. Standby light continuously flashes red. All fuses, cables and batteries checked and no problem with sound.

The T con board controls the picture. It has a problem and needs to be replaced. You can get the board from:
TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy
You can replace this board yourself if you're not afraid to take the back off the TV.

Check and replace its main power regulator board. Before replacing it, check the fuse, can be located on this board itself.
