If you need to take the old belt with you when you go to buy a new one and have them compare it with a new one. I quite often do this and yes they do get it right.

It sounds like you have two problems. As for the downhill, there is an adjustment that needs to be done to the brakes. The blade problem is usually caused by the deck drive belt being too short or covered with grease and dirt. Try cleaning it first and then if that doesn't help then replace it.

I use 30w 32 d and above. 5w30 below 32d.

check the safety switches under the seat. make sure they have clean contact points.
