Try this:
Control Panel > Sound Audio Device > go to Voice Tab > check your drop down list for Voice Recording and make sure you put on Samson C01U then test your hardware and see you get any pick up. I had to research on what to do.

Now my problem is why the mic is only picking up on the left side of the ear instead of the right. =/
