As you know, the Seagate sometimes has the firmware problems,so it seems that this firmware designed only valid in XP or Vista system, you may find the firmware update from the seagate official website

I need Seagate service center in Metro Manila. My 2 TB Free agent go flex external hardrive use to be working well. Recently the lights went off and can not be detected now.

Take the drive out he caddy and plug it into another computer to see if it still works. If the drive is dead then you need another drive.

Seagate Expansion 1TB external Desktop Hard Drive (9sf2A4-500) not detected.em?

Sounds like driver problem to me. Re install the driver by using installation disc, or if you have lost your CD, than use this Driver Update Software to update. I hope this helped.

Seagate Expansion 1TB external Desktop Hard Drive (9sf2A4-500) not detected.

Claire,

Have you tried connecting the drive to another computer using Windows 7 or later. You could try chkdisk /f at a command prompt or get the testdisk app to identify deeper issues with the drive.

Connect some other USB device (keyboard? mouse? memory-stick?) to your desktop?
Are those devices detected? If not, then either:
* the USB port(s) on your desktop are damaged,
* the device-drivers for the USB ports on your desktop are not installed.

Try connecting it to a different desktop/laptop, to see if the Seagate works at all, on any desktop.

My Free Agent 1 TB external has been dropped a few times. It seems to be working fine, but it makes a lounder noise than it used to when accessing files. Should I worry?

Yes. If the case has been damaged, imagine what happened inside the hard disk, where the tolerances are in microns. Start saving for a new one.

Seagate freedesktop agent 500gb, not detected on windows xp

I am facing the same same problem with my freeagent 750. It work some time, but most of the time it shows u in My Computer, but cannot enter. Couple of time if you run "chkdsk <Drive Letter>:/R" re-scans the entire hard disk and then it shows up. But that too stopped working now :-) Still hanging around for a resolution.
