DsL is a glorified phone connection its not smooth and is always in a state of flaux along with your neighbors there neighbors so on and so forth technecoly i would run cable connection that does not flaux with neighbors always have a strong signal and wont interfere with your videos DsL is slow as 58 bit data fax modem i found it a waist of money and time waiting for system to play catch up now if you want to play videos with out interupt turn off cable dsl modem this will bring function back to normal in video mode your comps fine its just your service provider

Windows Vista Problems
ive been talking about vista for a while
vista is in its infancy stages right now some hardware and software does not work with vista makin it imposible to work with
this is something windows is working on
i dont know how long it will take but theres alot of non compliant vista software and hardware there working on right now to be compliant with there Os system this is a patience process
what i tell people is that if windows update hasnt made an update for it they will its just matter of time before they get to all products
im waiting a year for my vista to come out that way i know most of bugs are worked out
If you have all drivers properly installed and a clean system without any viruses, then choppy playback and lag could indicate that the system is too weak, so you'll need to upgrade it with more RAM etc. or try closing all other programs when chatting / playing videos. But this is very unlikely. You should try scanning the laptop with antivirus and anti-spyware software, defragment the hard drive and clean it with CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com). If it still doesn't help, then you should use alternative software which uses less system resources - VLC (www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) for video playback and aMSN (www.amsn-project.net/) for instant messaging.
As for the battery indicator not being present, you can enable it back: Start -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Advanced -> Always show the icon in the taskbar (check this item) -> Apply
Your hub ma have been a older version of USB and the new computer has the USB ver2. in this case the hub is not talking to the computer. the computer USB is not backward compatible and will to detect the hub. you will need a new hub.
