Question about Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4) Router (1010835)

Poor connection with Belkin MIMO G+ router

My router has poor wireless connectivity, even with a laptop in the same room, let alone 2 rooms away. I tried to set up a wireless extender (Linksys) but the link strength is poor and intermittent. When I check the cable connection using Windows Vista it tells me I have a bad cable or connection. I have changed cables, tried each of the 4 10/100 sockets but only get a good connection on testing if I plug the network cable directly into the modem (not via the router). I have cleaned the sockets with alcohol and a cotton bud ,but no help. However, despite the poor test resul, I still get internet connection most of the time via a wired link. Is the problem with the connections as the test suggests, do I need a new router, or is there a software solution?

I would honestly suggest a new router. Although, you could check through the settings on your router and see if the wireless signal is lower then 100% for some reason. Also, see if is blocking any ports. A lot of new router's firewalls will lock a lot of ports down if it sees a virus or trojan trying to communicate outward, so do a scan on all of your computers. You can also try holding the reset button on the router for 30 seconds (you will need a pin or something small), then reconfiguring and using it and see if that helps.

You can also go through this website to try and update the software on your router.

Something is blocking wireless signal, i live in flat so in one room there is wireless router and in other room signal is very poor sometimes it's not connecting. i tryed 3 diffrent routers the last one is...

There are several likely causes, if the building has plaster walls it may have metal lath behind it blocking the signal.(this is fairly likely the cause) If there are high-power microwave transmitters within 2 or 3 km, can cause spotty interfering. Neighbors with a wireless router close to your wall can as well.
If you can move the router to a position across from the door between the rooms, you can test by connecting (wireless) your laptop near the router, then walk it into the other room (stay where you can see the router). If the laptop stays connected move across the room to a point where you did not have a signal previously, if you are still connected leave the laptop there and move the router back to its original location and recheck the laptops connection, if it is gone, it is your wall...

Low broadcast signal

Turn off or move any other gadgets that may emit a wireless signal. Other wireless signals may prevent the router signal from being as strong as it should be

Trying to create a bridge with two routers

You do not need a bridge if you are using a wireless adaptor on your pc in the other room. Just set up the Belkin Plus router to the WEP security settings you want and make sure the pc wireless usb adaptor has the same settings as the router. You should be good to go. Good Luck.

hey there joselko,
i'm chris from sw scotland. i have the same setup - 2 wireless laptops and a pc physically connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
you just plug the ethernet cable into the 'out' hole in the back of the router and into the ethernet port in the back of the PC. then start your PC. go to control panel, then internet settings, then hit the 'connection' tab, then click the radio button that says 'never dial a connection'.
you may have to reboot, but not necessarily.
both the laptops should continue to work wirelessly and the PC should now connect directly to the internet using the router.
if you have any problems, feel free to call me on 01776840273, and ask for chris, i'll be glad to help. you can also skype me on christophergrams or using the skype number 01414165437.
good luck.

Trying to connect router and laptop

ok does the router show green lights in power, internet and wireless. i'm assuming your using windows here, first of all make sure you have wireless turn on or activated in the laptop, then at the botton left of the screen in the taskbar you see one computer like icon, right click on that and view available networks.......find your network form the list and then click on connect.
if you have the router set up right and pluged into your modem it should work just fine if not let me know and i'll tell you how to set it up.
hope this helps.

No, the laptop will have to have a wireless adaptor on it or in it to connect. The docking station is only good when the computer is hooked into it.

Belkin wireless g plus mimo router

You need wireless in the computer you want to connect and then enable wireless on the router as well.

Once wireless is turned on then you open the wireless connection software on your computer and you should see the network on the list of available connections.
