USB connection failed

When I plug in the USB cable from the computer into the camera it says connection failed. Tried on 2 different computers and it does the same thing on both. The computers are the latest windows update. The cable came with the camera.

It could be a manufactors problem with one of them make sure you try it on your son's computer also and if problem persists take the camera back to store
good luck

I cannot tranfer pictures to my computer. I keep getting a message that there is a "communication error" every time I turn on the camera after plugging it into the computer with a USB cable. ...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My computer does not read my camera any more. i dont know why

Your computer will see the camera as a usb device usually a camera or a usb storage drive or drives (one for the camera main memory and/or another for the memory card)

What you want to do is make sure your camera cables are unplugged and reboot the computer. Then plug them in and the camera and see if it detects it. Sometimes hardware or the operating system have trouble remembering what is plugged in aka legacy usb device and this is all that it takes to fix it or even just plugging it into a usb port. The next thing to try is to plug it in using a idfferant cable and if you can try a differant comuter. If it works on a new cable or a differant computer then you know what the problem was or is. So if you tried a new cable on a differant computer you could be fairly sure the problem is the camera itself. If you narrow it down to the camera about all you can do is try a reset or make sure the usb setting are set to default.

Past this point you are looking at replacing the camera or taking it into the shop. Unless you are under warrenty a new camera is cheaper. You should still be able to use a card reader and get your pictures off of the memory card. A bit more hassle than plugging in the cable but better than nothing.

Camera shuts off when plugged into computer wont turn on while plugged in trying to put pics on computer

The camera needs battery when connected. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).

NOTE The cameras LCD screen will remain black throughout the transferre.

If you're experiencing that the computer is not reacting to the camera at all try the following:

Remember you need to turn the camera on when transferring.
Try a different USB outlet
Try a different cable
Try a different computer.

If all fails please contact KODAK in order to arrange a repair or order a new cable. Remember your USB cable is covered under the same warranty as your camera, so remember your serial number when calling:

I have a Canon FS100 Digital Video Camcorder. I am attempting to download some video on to my iMac, but then I select "Connect To Camera" I get the message "No Camera Was Found". I have the camera plugged...

The computer is no longer detecting the camcorder for several reasons. It could be the ports on the computer, it could be the cable that you're using to connect the camcorder to the iMac, or it could be the camcorder itself.

Try connecting the camcorder into different USB or FireWire port of the iMac.

Try using different cable.

Try connecting the camcorder into different computer to test the device.

If all else fails, power cycle the camcorder by turning it off and remove the battery for about 10 minutes. Then turn it back on. Otherwise, contact the manufacturer for second opinion.

Hope these helps and have a great day!

Camera not connecting vis USB

Usually this happens for one of 2 reasons:
  • bad hardware. I always check this first. Try connecting with a different cable and try another USB port.
  • corrupt driver (camera file). Go to the Nikon website and search for "L10 driver". You will find instructions and one or two files to download.

Hi

I don't know what operating system you are using, and I don't know how to make it work with a MAC sorry.

If your camera won't connect when plugged in via USB cable, then try a different USB port, and a different cable if you can. I have a USB mouse that quits on me sometimes, then I unplug it and plug it back in a few times and it works again.

If that doesn't work, your computer may need a driver for the camera (if you have an older version of windows) or your USB might not even be working... try another USB device in that same slot, does it work?

This could be a computer problem.... hard to say without testing a lot of different things sorry, hope the information above helps.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com (a digital camera repair business)

I assume your PC has no 'multimedia' slot that you can plug the SD Card into ????

I suggest you buy a USB SD Card Reader .. this makes a lot more sense that using the (stupid, slow, brain-dead) software that comes with most Cameras ..

RE: Batteries. Rechargeable batteries don't last for ever.... if they are more than about a year old they can self -discharge .. however if you have tried new Batteries I would guess the Camera has a fault ...

Computer won't recognise camera to download images

** Problem Solved **

I found it wasn't the camera entirely to blame. I tried another USB cable on another pc, and although the camera was doing the same thing as my problem, the computer recognised the camera as new hardware, and asked me how to access the pictures. So I was able to get the pictures from the camera to the computer, and then saved them on to my Kingston flash drive. So taking the flash drive to my daily PC, I plugged in my flash drive via a USB extension lead, and discovered that would read either... alarm bells rang. So I unplugged the lead, and put the flash drive straight into the computer direct. The computer recognised it immediately. So plugging in the extension lead again, and the flash drive, it read this now. So I tried the camera, and it recognised it.

So I don't know exactly what the problem was, but it was solved... saved me a lot of running around and money ;)

Computer won't recognize camera.

I don't know how much of a solution this is (I have the same problem now), but my computer actually has a slot where the memory card can be inserted by itself. It isn't as convenient, but I can transfer pictures directly from the memory card to the computer.
