I'll presume you can program it ( set the length of time you want to cook) Does the timer count down? Does the turntable ( if you have one) turn? If everything else seems to work properly and it just doesn't cook more then likely the magnetron is bad
my microwave 1640GB from GE suddenly cannot heat food and make some noisy sound. as it is mounting in the closet, it is not easy to replace. any solutions or suggestion
I had the same problem. You need to replace the turntable motor. I used a local appliance repair shop and they charged $45 for the motor plus $65 labor(a house call). I just checked with searspartsdirect.com and they have the motor(part # WB26X10038) for $22.27. Oh well, at least it works.
