Well i have linux on my computer and my logitech camera wont work on skype or anything nothing will pop up to show me what to do when i plug in the cord to my computer is there any solution??????????????

Hello dear Linux user:

Unlike Windows, Linux will not pop a window notifying about a new USB device, unless it's some kind of file storage.
You could check whether or not you USB WEB camera was recognized by your system by opening a terminal window and type: lsusb and press enter. If you device is listed, it's a good sign.
The next step is to configuring your Skype Client. While logged in Skype, open Audio Options Settings and select pulseaudio for incoming and outgoing. After saving your options, open Video Options and select your USB Camera as your video device from the scroll down menu.
I am not sure what Linux Distribution you have. However, Logitech Cameras are usialy working without any problems on Ubuntu 10 or higher.
Hope this helps

I am using ubuntu 10.04 linux operating system ,but it,s screen resolution is not good .is there any possibility to download and install any vga drivers to get better resolution

Hi,

Go to System, on the top bar, then Preferences and select Monitors.
On the Monitor Preference screen there will be different resolution settings that you can choose.
If there are any resolution settings higher than 800X600 like 1024X768 etc. select it and apply.

If there is no other settings available go to System then Administration and select Additional driver.
When the Additional drivers screen appears check if it recommends a a driver to be downloaded.
If it does, download the driver and then you will be able to get higher screen resolutions.

If there is no additional driver to download it gets a bit tricky.
You will need to edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
The file will look someting like this:

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Philips 190S"
ModeLine "1280x1024" 108.0 1280 1328 1440 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync
Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024"
Option "DPMS"
HorizSync 30-82
VertRefresh 56-76
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Philips 190S"
Device "Default Device"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 8
Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "720x400" "640x480"
EndSubSection

SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "720x400" "640x480"
EndSubSection

EndSection

Section "Module"
Load "glx"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Default Device"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
EndSection

It will be wise to make a backup of this file if you are going to edit it. (xorg.conf.old)
Inside the file you will see your screen and its resolution. (Preferred mode)
You need to change the resolution, save the file and restart your session.
If all went well your resolution will be set to what you specified, if your display freaks out replace the xorg.conf file with the xorg.conf.old file.

Hope one of these options solves your problem!

Regards

Can not find driver for Dell 964 to macbook

Dell does not offer any driver for Mac or Linux or anything but Windows XP and Vista. The best bet is to simply plug it in and try it out.
In Mac OS X 10.5, go into System Preferences and add it as a printer. You may need to choose Generic as the printer type. (In Mac OS X 10.4, use the Printer Setup Utility to add it.)

Also from System Preferences (or Printer Setup Utility), add it as a Fax.

Open the Image Capture utility to perform scanning.

Mac OS X supports most of devices without any additional software. However, in some cases it may only be able to regard it as a generic type of device and some functionality may be simplified or not available. In such cases, it is up to the vendor (ie: Dell) to provide software to support the extra/advanced features. But unfortunately (and not surprisingly), Dell don't.

Ozaki imini (cute)

This is easy, hold down "mode" until the alarm time flashes, then press "mode" again, it will cycle through a menu, there is an "on" option to turn on the ipod at a certain time, you select "on" then press mode again, it will cycle to the next menu, set the time you want the ipod to turn on, press menu again, then you can select the "ipod off" time, I keep that option off as I want the ipod to stay on until I turn it off. Now you have set the ipod to turn on at whatever time you want. Turn off that terrible buzzer alarm. The confusing thing is the imini has to different alarm modes, not one alarm mode with two alarm sound options like most everything else.

ISA sound in Linux

Dear.

Since version 7.3, Redhat have removed support for ISA devices. If you have a older computer that uses an ISA sound device (such as my Asus L7200 laptop with Yamaha OPL3 chip), the ISA device will not be recognized. What you need to do is to download the ISAPNPTOOLS package. Unzip and untar the file and then follow the readme file's instruction to compile, install and configure it. You will also need to add the sound device module to /etc/modules.conf. After that the sound should work. Refer to the Linux Howtos for more information.
Since 2005, Linux ALSA sound architecture support pretty much have eliminated that issue even for ISA sound devices.
