Canon MP830 Scanning from ADF..paper stops halfway, hangs...

When scanning from the ADF with my Canon MP830, once the first page disappears into the machine, it stops and hangs, frozen. The LCD reads ''Scanning document.'' When I hit cancel on the MP Navigator box on the screen, MP Navigator hangs as well, and I have to Force Quit MP Navigator. I have tried restarting the computer and the printer to no avail. I also reinstalled the MP Navigator scanner driver (Mac).

I had been moving some furniture and I think I inadvertently knocked a usb cable loose. I also had it going to a hub that was possibly not working. when I made sure everything was hooked up correctly and directly, it was working fine again. I hope this helps someone.

I have a problem with my MP830 it is not scanning.

- Confirm the connection
- between the ADF motor and the ADF PWB, and
- between the ADF PWB and the logic board.

My mp830 prints and scans fine, but it won't scan dual side. it scans the first side, then starts to pull the paper back the other way, but it only goes a little ways (1-3") then the paper stops, like it...

Close the inner cover, and press the OK
button to clear the error. The paper being
printed at error occurrence will be ejected
without printing the remaining data for the
ejected paper, then printing will resume from
the next page.

Canon MP830 not scanning

It won't scan unless you have a program like picasso running on your computer to accept the scan. On the Canon you choose where you want the scanned image to go and if you choose the computer you need a program running to store or adjust the scanned image.

ADF paper jam, when there is none

If you are receiving an Error Code 103 or a Paper Jam error, but there are no pages in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), follow the steps below:
  1. Close the scanning application (such as PaperPort)
  2. Turn off the scanner and the computer
  3. If you have a combination ADF with a Flatbed scanner, unplug the ADF cable from the base of the scanner
  4. Plug the ADF cable back in
  5. Turn on the scanner power
  6. Turn on the computer
  7. Try scanning again
For a Paper Jam or Error Code 103, make sure that the ADF cable in the rear is connected to the scanner base. Check the flatbed to make sure that it is clear. A page incorrectly placed on the flatbed may interfere with a page feeding through the ADF.

If your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a warning dialog box appears after a few moments.

To clear a paper jam:
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Remove the jammed paper and close the cover.
If you are receiving a paper jam error, or if the scanner is running continuously, check to make sure the paper sensor arm is not stuck down.
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Look for the small black plastic arm
  3. When you press on this arm, it should move freely up and down
  4. If the arm is stuck down, please contact Technical Support for troubleshooting options
  5. Close the ADF cover.

Scanner Canon 5010c

This is a known problem with the scanner. Use PixEdit to scan which comes around this problem so the scanning terminates OK after the ADF goes empty.

Saying that paper is stuck

Open the back door under the rear feed-in slot and check for distorted paper there.
I reuse the backside of lots of paper so sometimes get it jambed up back there.
