Hi There,
Your coffee group is blocked, with lime or coffee oils.

Try descaling 1st Pulycaf coffee machine descaler . You will find descaler and cleaner in this rancilio silvia kit. Rancilio Silvia gasket kit . Descaling should be done every 3 months or so.

If the descaler does not work - you may have to remove the solenoid valve and descale that - not an easy fix. Takes 20 min.

SOURCE: water will not come through the steam wand

I had the same problem. I took the steam wand off, and checked for steam out of the unit. It was OK, so I stuck a thin wire up through the steam wand and dislodged what look like pieces of a green washer or O-ring.
In short...the wand was plugged.

SOURCE: Silvia pressure issue

The Silvia comes equipped with a "pressurestat" that may have gone out of adjustment. Do a google search on that and you will find numerous pictoral guides on how to do this. The owner's manual that came with the machine (they have electronic versions at espressotec.com, among other places) will also give you basic instructions. Good luck!

SOURCE: MY SILVIA NOT WARMING THE WATER

Hi
If your lucky.
There is a reset button inside on the front side of the boiler (you have to take the top of the machine off. There are 4 screws and remove the water tank). It is located between 2 black wires and is a red button. Push it in and test. There is also an other problem that you might have. If the brew thermostat is bad it won’t heat. To test for this, push the steam switch and wait 15 seconds. Then open the steam knob and push the middle button and see if the water is warm. If it is then you need a new brew thermostat. That is the thermostat that has the red dot on the top. It sets on top of the boiler next to the steam thermostat. If you take the top off, make sure that the machine is unplugged.
If none of these things work check the heating element with an ohms meter. The reading in the terminals should be from 12 to 16 ohms. If no reading the elements is bad and you have to replace the boiler.

Loud drilling noise when coffee switch is turned on - rather than the usual purring noise - and no coffee delivery either

How old is your machine ? and what maintenance have you done over time such as replacing the shower curtain located at the pourring end of the hot water ? I had too very loud noise coming occasionnally from the stainless steel rack holding the cup while coffee is delivered. If your ground coffee is too fine it will stop flow during making a shot. Is water coming out when no coffee is placed in the portafilter. The water pump on this machine is a cheap pump that has to be replaced over time. Mine is 7 years old and has delivered four cups of expresso everyday of the year, and still working.3841c994-fb4b-459f-8d1f-710e0aafc3c0.jpg 2ead4f70-37c6-4236-a9c2-992dba149c4c.jpg

Just bought the machine. Basically, the problem is that the steam wand goes of on its own (or as soon as I push the coffee button) and that I cannot turn the steam handle at all or do anything to stop...

Hi. Make sure all your buttons are off. (switches all facing the same direction). Then make sure the tap is turned off. Switch main power on. Then switch the coffee on. you should hear the pump start. usually loud at 1st, then it will get quiter as the water is pumped up through the group head. When water is pouring through the group head, switch off the coffee button. Now let it finish heating. If you can get to this stage, then everything is ok. If you cant get it to this stage then you have a problem with the machine. Most likely a themostat on the boiler. Darryn REPAIRER

The loud buzzing is the water pump, sometimes they are loud on the beginning, And the reason is there is no water in the pump. It should get better.
These small espresso machines have a vibration pump (this is the official name), And the name says it all.

On my rancilio silvia, 3 way valve not whooshing anymore. Water temperature seems low- around 180* at highest.

There are two thermostats, one for water, one for steam. Replace the one for water. You can get the themostat here
