INTEL SAY that the D46GZIS board does not support the E8400 processor. Intel's support is the best I have ever come across.

see here for reference to above and to find out which processors are supported

and

How to enable virtualization for Intel core 2 duo e8400?

the virtualisation capability is an option in the bios; that is where it can be anabled. To get into bios begin the boot up process and hit the delete button continuously. On some boards it is the F2 button but it should be the delete button on your board.
Remember to save the option on exiting.

Solve the problem dual core 2.8 processor not supported intel 946gzis motherboard. My processor is heating.I have apply to the processor with cool paste.before apply the cool paste my pc is working.Af

If your pc worked fine before then why it shouldn't support. Consider the following :

# Check whether you have insert the processor to the motherboard firmly or correctly (your pc won't boot if you fail this condition)
# Check whether you have insert all the power supply cables in place if you remove earlier
# Check for any unusual events after or before you switch on

E8400 or Q6600

personally i have the q6600 which is a quad core processor, all the others you listed were dual core, personally i use alot of programs all at once which is good if you have a quad core, but just for general music, data, and streaming, the e8400 is probably better for you, its a 3ghz processor.
