Delonghi Rialto Magnifica EAM4500 won't remember custom programming

Per the manual I press and hold a cup selection for 8 seconds and the LCD displays "Program Quantity". I press the button again when the desired level had been dispensed but the next time I use the same cup size selection it goes back to the default setting. During the second step of the programming I've tried pressing the button once, twice and even holding it for a few seconds. None of these methods worked. Any ideas? If it's a faulty part which of the two boards would contain the suspect part. Thank you!

Often these buttons do "forget" their programs. If the unit's power supply is interrupted it can cause this. Otherwise check the board in the control panel, this contains the "memory" circuits.

SOURCE: I have a Delonghi Magnifica

I purchased a unit second hand for my wife's birthday today. It's only 4 months old, got it home, tested it, same problem... No froth!

I've read all the posts here and all were very helpful troubleshooting guides however they did not solve the issue.

Understanding how the frothing mechanism functions is half the battle in figuring out the solution. It's a simple vacuum type system. No doubt you've read about checking the orings. This is definately the first thing to check however if this is not the reason then consider the following.

The larger of the white tubes that has the red and black oring inserts deep into its port on the tap. Why? It pushes steam past the milk pipe directly into the chrome frothing tube which causes a vacuum essentially drawing milk up it's hose creating the froth. What you can't see without further investigation is that on the underside of the tube centered between the red and black orings is a small hole. This hole is responsible for drawing the milk upwards. If this is blocked, and it probably is then no milk and no froth. Use a really small screwdriver to carefully clean the white tube both from the front and the little hole underneath.

So in conclusion. Any air leak between the red and black orings will prevent the vacuum required to draw milk up the tube and alternatively any blockage of the milk channel will also obviously prevent the flow into the frothing mechanism. Hope this helps.

I have a delonghi magnifica. The ! light stays on solid, and the cup lights stay on green solid. The infuser does move up and down when I unplug and re-plug, but eventually it sits in the up position, with...

If cleaning the infuser doesn't work, sometimes the error will go away over time or after you try to unplug from the wall. Finally, a system reset may help: you accomplish a hard reset by having the machine plugged in, pressing and holding down both the decalcify and ground coffee buttons, unplug the machine for 15 seconds (still holding down the buttons), then replugging the machine into the socket before releasing the buttons.

Defuser unit stuck at bottom of Delonghi magnifica coffee machine. Squeezing red buttons does not help. Cannot remove

Recycling the power resets the position of the defuser. When you turn it off, make sure you do it via the button on the front before swutching it off at the power point.
