Windows Vista has no uninstall or revert to previous OS version option. You are going to have to start all over from format to XP Home install

If you installed the customized(!) version of Windows that ACER supplies with each new ACER computer, namely Windows Vista Home Premium, you should have all of the correct device-drivers.

If you "down-graded" from that version of Windows to Windows XP, and some of the device-drivers are "missing", then I recommend that you reinstall Windows Vista, or purchase an "upgrade" to Windows 7.

You might try to access the manufacturer's web-site, via: http://www.Acer.com
to see if they support "down-grading" to Windows XP, and if they supply the needed device-drivers.

But, your BEST solution is to reinstall Windows Vista, and be sure to apply "Service Pack 2" to Vista, to bring it up-to-date.

when bootin up hit f 11 or f 2 to get into the boot and change you boot settings and use the boot from prim. hard drive and load into safe mode and run a virus scan and when ya can get on the net go get Ccleaner at cnet.come or also known as download.com and get it if this doesn't work when bootin up hit R repeeting until the hard drive recovery screen comes up do a hard drive scan to see if your HD has any major errors to fix, and then when ya download it again do from ms update offical site from now on ok if all this fails call me 952-451-0518 and will walk you through it ask for TA ok good luck

Did you previously have XP on it ? The 2 OS are not compatible with each other and you may have to install XP fresh. Save your docs by reverting back to Vista first and setting up a partition or a dual boot situation.

Hi.

If she did not format the hard disk, then the Windows XP startup option will be present in boot option. When computer startup you will get a choice like this:

1 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition.
2 Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2

In that case you can restore XP, starting on XP and editing the file winboot.ini, that is an hidden system file located on C:/ drive.

See:How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP.

If instead Windows XP does not start, or if you do not get the boot option, that means that Windows XP system file had been deleted.

In that case the only way to get back Windows XP is reinstalling the system from scrap, using a Windows XP install disk, and the number listed on the licence sticker.

Regards.

I have a laptop lg e500 it was mabe for windows vista i down graded the operationg system to Xp and now everyting i access start run cmd and then i press enter it shuts down the computer

Best thing I can suggest, do a fresh install of Windows XP. If you have a boot disk, I would suggest going into fdisk and wiping out the paritions and then creating one primary partition. After that then reboot with the boot disk and then format the drive using the command "format c: /u/c" without the quotes. After the format is done then reboot with the windows xp cd and install windows xp. It'll be a fresh copy at this point. Lots of times when doing an upgrade or downgrade some files get corrupted and weird things can happen. Do it this way and let me know what happens.
