We have a 9000 btu portable frigidare air conditioner, we are constantly having to manually drain the bucket even with drain pump hose attatched. Is it possible tat the drain pump is broken? Occasionally we have water dripping from the hose outside, leading me to believe that the pump works occasionally.

Wow maybe you have a lot of moisture in the air.
It is a strong posibility the pump has trash in it. periodically clean out the pump for best results.
I realy have never even seen a 9000 btu portable ac or worked on one. Just guessing.

How high up is your exhaust hose in relation to the unit - if it is too hight, the pump may be struggling to discharge the water.

I assume this is a vented model, where you have a large diameter pip exhausting air outside (Around 110mm wide) if so, is there also a smaller pipe to carry the condensate water?

My everstar blows hot air out the back and cold air in front i want all cold air

this style unit needs an exhaust hose attached to the rearand be placed out the window to exhaust the heat that is removed from the air in the room, you will also have to empty the condensate drain bucket when it gets full.

How do I correctly drain water from my air conditioner? Is there a tank at the back that I empty every now and then or do I continously drain it. It is a portable 5000 BTU

Yes the tank does need to be drained. There is a short drain hose that was supplied with the unit. It attaches to the hose connection the back of the unit. Use a 5 gallon bucket to drain it with the hose.

Or iis you rather, you can just pull out the tank and dump it in the sink or a tub. Be sure to turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the water collection tank.

I have included a link to the Owner's Manual for a model similar to yours. The instrcutions will be the same. Copy and paste the link into your web browser.

I am getting alot of water leaking out of the unit.

I live with my husband and three sons in a house that we almost never succeed in cooling enough every summer. But a few months back, my uncle mentioned that he had recently purchased a new model of air conditioner by Plasma Cool called Plasma Cool Portable PC-14E that required no draining and came equipped with technology to remove most of the humidity from the air. We checked this ac out at his home, and the next thing we did was researched all the no drain acs with evaporative booster out there in the market to see if there was anything better than the one my uncle had. But the only one that met our needs and budget was Plasma Cool Portable PC-14E. At 14,000 BTU, this ac is 40-50% more powerful than similar acs in the market and covers upto 500 sq. ft. Look for this product on www.plasmacoolportableac.com which lays out the features and specifications in easy and comprehensible fashion without coming across as trying too hard to sell you the product. We just finished the 30 day trial period, and now own the ac. We are very satisfied and are considering purchasing another unit soon.

I have a portable air conditioner and the water condensation tank fills in about 4 hours of constant use. Is there any kind of portable water tank that I could attach to my unit that would allow me to...

I would suggest putting a condensate pump in the reservoir, find the tube that empties the water into the reservoir and direct that into the pump. You can run tubing from the pump to a sink or any other drain in the house that is convenient. Putting the pump inside the reservoir is a safe guard in case the pump fails, the water will fill and turn the unit off instead of flooding the floor. It would actually probably trip your breaker once the water hit the voltage on the pump but always better safe then sorry. Check out these pumps at amazon, you don't need anything fancy.

Frigidaire Portable 10,000 BTU air conditioner

Hello Scarletjo1,

What we need to get our arms around your trouble
is for you to OBSERVE of the water collection bucket
is FULL when you start getting water...

~~
Water Pump Drainage:
Remove the rubber cap from the spigot next to the power cord. Attach the rubber tubing supplied to the drainage spigot.
Locate the open end either through the rubber grommet in the window slider kit so it can discharge out through the window,
or
in a suitable discharge drain. ( Fig. 10 )
The pump will engage once the bucket is full.
Continuous Drainage:
Remove the supplied rubber stopper from the hose connector. Screw a suitable
length of hose onto this connector. Place the open end into a suitable drain making sure there are no kinks in the hose.
( Fig. 11 )

~~ (Do check your pump configuration
(This UNIT must be "set up"... it is not plug & play)

>> ((follow instructions in MANUAL)).

There is a pump... pump controller and "over-flow"
sensor...
all have to be failing.. cracked or have
leaking O-rings for you to be getting water on the floor

They all source their control from the very same
control circuit PCB (printed circuit board)

See the attached parts list

I would suggest you give it a serious look inside
before calling for a "REPAIR"...

Take pictures BEFORE taking anything apart...
and do check with FRIDIGIDAIR for parts availability at

PAC L90 water tank capacity

when tank is full you will get the letters FE will signal a FULL TANK
(The tank is full)

You have it setup to constantly drain GOOD.
Should you should not plug the drain hoses to get colder air.
Do let it drain . It is more convenient!
If the unit is the proper BTU for the square footage of the area to be cooled it will be cold!
If the tank gets full you will not get cool air?

Please remember to leave a rating before you go!
Thank you
