My aw0893l air conditioner does not get cold. do i need freon?

Well first off is the compressor running? When you turn on the unit the fan will start. Turn the unit on to fan only. Then turn it into the cooling mode do you hear something else start? That would be the compressor. Remove the front panel so you can see the cooling coil (evaporator ) if it is freezing and has frost on just part of the coil top or bottom you have lost Freon or a system restriction.. One of the major problems with air cons is a very dirty or plugged condenser coil, which is the outside coil. If you have cotton wood trees in your area this is probably the problem.

Sounds like it could be low on freon I believe these units have about 1.5 pounds of freon in them and are critical in not undercharging or overcharging them if it is a freon 410 ac unit the pressures should be about 135 and both lines cold if is low on freon a service tec will need to be called to try to repair the leak if possiable

Hi,
The unit is probably low on freon and so it is running too cold....this trips the freeze stat and shuts down the compressor till it warms up
The unit will need to be recharged or replaced...

Leaking water
mcdevito75 here, The portion of the a/c unit that goes outside the window is the evaporator and suppose to leak water, check the drain hole in the unit floor on the outside portion of the unit, reach this drain hole thru another window or have your local a/c repair shop look at it, they come to the house.

How do i get the freeon in the ac its not getting cold
Air Conditioners don't 'Use' freon per se. A common fallacy is the thinking that if "It's not getting cold, then it needs freon." If your unit lost freon, it has a leak and adding freon will only be a very short term fix.

If you're certain that you need freon, you'll have to take the unit to a certified HVAC technician. EPA regulations make it nearly impossible for the average handyman to service A/C units, since the freon must be handled in a very specific way with equipment not generally available to the average owner, was well as R-12 freon gas which can be bought only by licensed HVAC technicians.

However, there are many other problems that are far more likely to be the cause of no cooling than loss of freon. It could be something as simple as dirty condenser coils (you'd be surprised how common it is that a simple cleaning of these coils will 'fix' a non-working window A/C), to a defective thermostat switch, to other defective switches/controls.

Unless it's a very obvious leak, I always suspect a loss of freon LAST on my list of possible cause of non-cooling in these units.

It could be the air conditioner pump or maybe the freon needs to be replaced in the air conditioning unit. You should definately bring it somewhere and have it looked at. You don't want to mess with freon at home. It has to be disposed of properly.

How do I repair my ge inside heat and air unit fan blower I have a GE electric heat and air unit in my home. I noticed it was making a noise and then the fan motor went out. I bought a new one and went to have it installed and I think the person that was installing it didn't know what they were doing and messed it up so I got another one. wolf cooktop 2005 model ct36 e ser# 1157479. double burner not working I left water boiling on double burner on high for an hour till pot was dry forgot to turn it off. I reset breaker several times. When I turn just that burner on burner control lights blink five seconds and go off. Burner is warm to the touch. When i turn on any or all of the other burners and then turn on faulty burner the control blinks continuously and burner is warm to the touch. if I turn off any other burner while faulty one is blinking it then goes off and I hear an audible click near burner controls. Furnace starts fine the first time power is applied. New controller, ignitor, flame detector, thermostat. After running fine for 10 minutes flame goes out and ignitor turns on and off randomly, but no gas or flame. Finally shuts down. No codes on control. Tried second new control and same thing. ????? Please help
