SOURCE: turn on canon dc100 everything come up fine pop the disc in already, still say no disc

If the camera is still not working with DVD-R and DVD-RW discs you may have to have it repaired. Try resetting it first (the reset button is behind the battery) and that doesn't work you may have to have it repaired. I had the same problem and I took my camera to an electronics shop and they found that my CCD sensor is not working so it has to be replaced. The total cost for the repair is $140, ($50 for parts and $90 for labor)

SOURCE: no disc read on dc100

There are only 4 possible solutions,

1. Dirty or faulty discs, but as you've tried different discs this doesn't seem likely.

2. Condensation has developed in the camcorder, leave it in a dry indoor temperatured place for a couple of hours and try again.

3. Dirty lens won't let the laser read the disc. Look for lens cleaning camcorderkit in a store.

4. Manufacturing error

Hope this will help you.

SOURCE: I just bought new discs for my Canon DC100. The

It's possible that, for some reason, the disks aren't compatible. It can almost drive you crazy trying to figure out why. To find out for sure if this is the case, try some new Panasonic discs, with the same specifications as the old ones that worked, and see if they work. If they don't work, you're probably having a dvr issue with the laser lens or related parts within the camera. There are many issues with dvrs that develop over time, requiring replacement parts and service. In those cases, it's usually better to get a replacement camcorder. The new HDD camcorders are immune from a lot of problems inherent with dvr and tape recorders.

make sure the power adapter is connected, you can not finalize on battery power alone. also make sure you are in playback mode...it will say original in the top left corner..then you should be able to finalize when you go into the menu

Power light and record light come on, but nothing works. disc cover cannot be opened either.

This just happened to our DC100 Canon yesterday during my son's 3rd bday party. I went to put in a new disc and then all that happened. Did you ever find out what caused it or if it can be fixed?
Thanks

Initializing DVD-RW Discs

This camcorder only takes DVD-R and DVD-RW, it will not work with the +R discs. I've used Maxell and Fujifilm discs and they both worked fine. You have to make sure the camcorder is plugged in the wall when initializing or else it won't initialize.
