I just replaced the Volkswagen/Audi Auxiliary Fan for $26.86 (Control Unit # 1J0 919 506 K)... FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!
Originally I had: Both fans and compressor not working, all fuses good, and all grounds good, and an extremely high 134a pressure on both the High and Low side. I bought the part on eBay, swapped it out, and instantly problem solved!
(Side note) I discovered that one fan is not working correctly (which I will address later), however the A/C is working GREAT again!

If you have cooling fans, then it could be your compressor itself. If you hit the A/C button, and there's no cooling fans, try a new "Cooling Fan Control Module" it's a common problem on early 2000 VW's.

Ac cluch does not kick in
if you press the ac button, do you hear a faint "click" inside the vehicle? someplace next to the passenger area floor there is a relay for the ac. Turn the vehicle on and press the ac switch while you are near the glovebox area and see if you hear the "click" if you hear that, your ac compressor is probably dead. If you don't hear that click. it's possible that the ac relay is dead and that's usually cheap at the auto parts store. good luck!

No power to ac comp. All fuses good, ac/heater controls have power
U NEED TO CHECK FOR POWER AT LOW PRESURE SWITH AND A/C RELAY.U WONT GET POWER TO COMPRESSOR UNLESS RELAY IS WORKING AND SYSTEM THINKS THERE IS ENOUGH REFRIGERANT IN. USUALLY LOW PRESSURE SWITCH IS ON TOP OF RECEIVER DRIER.
