Yes. There are many methods that you can transfer DVD to external flash drive. But first you need to make sure you have stuff below:

1. A DVD driver that can be connected to your computer or laptop.
2. DVD copy software.

If you have these two tools, you can follow steps in this tutorial to transfer movies from DVD to flash drive: https://www.leawo.org/tutorial/back-up-dvd-to-usb-drive.html?fixya=1409

Step1. insert ur DVD discinto CD-ROM and sandisk flash to PC;
Step2: Copy the full DVD files to ur sandisk flash directly;

PS: Some Commercial DVDs are generally encrypted. In order to copy DVD to dandisk flash,you'd need to break that encryption, which can be done by Daniusoft DVD Copy. It is fast and easy-to-use DVD copy software, which has professional performance in copying Any DVD to others.

Want to copy a TV programme I have on DVD to an 8GB Sandisk backup stick

Hi,
Explore the DVD and just copy the files with VOB extension to USB Stick. These are the Video Files and can be played on any PC. You may also use Any DVD Ripper Software to extract the video from DVD and convert it to any other format such as avi.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I cannot save files from my computer onto my cruzer. It keeps telling me my file is read only.

While in the computer you can go to the file and then right click it...go down to properties and then click properties...at the bottom of the window there should be the attributes for the file...check to see if the read only box is checked...if it is...uncheck it and then try to copy it onto the sandisk cruzer

Instructions on how to operate a sandisk cruzer us 2.0 flash drive. what is supposed to happen when i insert the drive, should any on screen instructions inform me what i am transferring to the drive.

Your system will automatically recognize your sandisk and will automatically install the drivers for it (this will show on the time taskbar located at the lower right side of the screen). After successfully loading the drivers you can now access your usb drive by going to My computer and should have the drive letter after your cd/dvd drive.

I purchased a Cruzer USB 2.0 Flash Drive 4gb and when I inserted it into port for first time, I think it installed some kind of driver first and I was able to use it find. How ever when I when to my DVD RW...

Unless your computer or flash drive did something weird, the USB drive had nothing to do with the DVD drive issue. (There have been drives sold with malware do to issues at the manufacturer/distributor. These affect the registry so you might try rolling back to a previous configuration in the System Restore after you do a malware/antivirus scan either in Safe Mode or from a LiveCD (preferred). The advantage of the LiveCD is that the malware really can't protect itself since the boot sequence is fully independent of the usual OS.)

Most likely though your optical drive failed for some other reason. Check the device manager for any driver issues (Control Panel > Hardware or Computer > right click on the optical drive and choose Properties and then the Hardware Tab followed by clicking on the optical drive. Then click Properties and the Drivers tab.). If you can, try a disc cleaner to clean the lens. Also check that the cables are fully seated (both to the motherboard and the optical drive). Consider trying a new data cable.

With today's prices, it usually isn't worth repairing an optical drive. However the most common issue is the lens tracking and lens transport system.

I hope this helps.

Flash drive has a DVD ghost

It is "working as designed" for a 'U3' device.

A 'U3' device is _more_ than just an "ordinary" flash-drive.

You can install software onto a 'U3' device, i.e., a copy of Microsoft Office, and then you can take your data files _and_ your copy of the software _with_ you, and connect to any computer, and access your software and your files.
