Sounds like it could be a bad inverter for the screen lamp. If it is a bad inverter and the tv is still under warranty you should send it back for a replacement or repair. If the tv is not under warranty and you have some experience working on electronic devices you could probably find a replacement inverter online and replace the bad one.
The missing manual for this model seems to be a popular issue! I had the same problem and emailed Audiovox about it. They sent me the manual in pdf format. I have uploaded it to share with others that need the manual like I did. You can download it from: here.
