your desktop graphics chip may be faulty. Please plug your monitor to another system to check whether it shows. If it got signal on the monitor then problem is in your system

Acer aspire ast180

That will generally indicate a major system problem on just about any PC. On your PC it should be indicating an issue with the video subsystem. These problems are not always fatal so it might be as simple as pulling the power and battary for a full system reset or you might need to do a firmware reset. at any rate I am not an expert on Acers so hear is a link to the Acer help site with the exact error you are having and they did get it fixed. take a look.

Turn computer on one long beep, two short monitor says no input data help! I'm really incompetent with technology

This is an error generated by your video card. When this happens to me, I open the case and reseat the video card. Actually, I just push it down and wiggle it gently in the socket.
That usually fixes it. Otherwise, you computer is telling you it can't display anything because your video card is messed up.
Now if you have an integrated card (one that is actually part of the motherboard), you can't do what I described. I would suggest turning the computer off and unplugging it from the wall for several minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on. Let us know if this didn't work.

Problem for HP HP Pavilion dv2000 15.4" Notebook Laptop PC The power is OK but I get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps when switching on, the screen remains blank and no activity on the laptop

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it
Hope this gives you the information you need

I have an Acer T180 desk top which was working OK. Now just beeps

The beeps you refer to are known as "computer2.gif beep codes" and may also be known as "computer post codes2.gif" although they are in fact slightly different with the post code being the more technically descriptive of the two.

These are very descriptive and can tell you exactly where to home in on the problem.

In the back of your manual should be a list of these beeps and if you listen very carefully the are quite similar to morse code. Its this distinction the gives you the information. If its not there then you should go here

http://www.postcodemaster.com

scroll down to the beep codes.

ACER ASPIRE T180

1. Remove the memory and put it back in again.
2. Remove the video card and put it back in again.

Check those two items first. Usually a beeping at the beginning would indicate either a memory or video problem, depending on the type of beep and computer.

Thanks and please don't forget to rate as fixya. Thank you.
