HI, you have a major inverter issue here, the HV Capacitor is damaged and, the tranformer(HV) is damaged as well. the will require you or, the tech to remove the outer cover and, dismantle the internal power sectors. the diode, Magnetron cut-off fuse, HV capacitor and, transformer will need to be inspected for damage.

Thia repair will be costly and, you may want to consider buying a completely new unit in this case.

Your door monitor switch has gone out. they are 3 switch that monitor the door. remove control panel. they are located behind frame where the door clips go into.

Why does our new microwave not work? Can set the time and it counts down when we have pressed start but does nothing else.
There is a big fuse inside that thing. Check to see that it is not open. Could be that the magnetron, lite, and dish are all on the same circuit.

If so, and the only issue is that the microwave is not heating you are looking at a High Voltage transformer or a Magnetron. Either parts should only be installed by a service technician, and will cost you $100+ for the repair at most repair shops.

Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combination MH3184XPS-0 (October 2004), for no reason at all, this morning keeps beeping and running the power setting down from 10 to 1, and just keeps doing it in rapid sequence....
Ours just started doing this exact same thing this past Friday - 12/11/09. What's going on? The cook power just starts beeping all by itself and going from 10 down to 1 over and over again. It may stop momentarily, but then starts again within a minute or so - it's constant until we unplug it. We plug it back in and within a few minutes it starts doing it again. What gives?

The clock works & counts down but the microwave won't heat
  • Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock.
  • If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.





Touch the clock pad. Enter in the correct time of day by touching the numbers in sequence. Touch the clock pad again.
