How do I know if I need a new lamp?

Hi,
Yes, if you have not replaced the lamp since you purchased this TV.
Lamps usually last about 6000 hours.
I've seen lamps last much longer than 6000Hrs, it all depends on the usage.
Remove the lamp from the TV and do a visual inspection, see if there's a crack on the glass or the bulb.
If the TV is few years old then the Lamp may be bad.

Buy original Lamp: 800 638-3328

DO NOT BUY the cheap lamp from ebay

Good luck to you.

I have a Sony KDF-E50A10 Grand WEGA LCD. The picture cuts in and out and the green standby light flashes. One expert said the STKs need to be replaced??? How can I do this...please advise in detail.

Replace your lamp. Your DLP set does not have Stk ic's in it. I don't know what expert told you that but I can assure you he has never worked on a TV. You can purchase the lamp from www.dlplamps.com

How do I know I need a new projection lamp? My tv

This set does not have a lamp. It has 3 crt tubes that converge to create a color picture. The convergance is off a little causeing this affect. Go into the menu and look for convergence or magic focus. You can download the owners manual from Toshiba website to do this. You will need the remote that came with the set.
