SOURCE: paper won't feed, HP printer dock series 3

I had this problem (among many others with my printer). I found that just cleaning the front roller with a damp paper towel fixed it. Wipe it carefully and let it dry before reloading the paper. The rubber on the roller seems to lose it's ability to pick up the paper if it sits unused for any length of time, so wiping it with warm water and drying it works. Good luck. Lynette

SOURCE: I have an Easy Share printer dock series 3 that has paper loaded

Dirty rollers? I had the same problem and think the rollers are no longer sticky enough to pick up the paper due to a coating of dust... maybe cleaning the rollers would work?

Canon pixma mp495 rear tray rollers only pulls paper in on one side then it jams

When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or sticky rollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces of paper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
Check for tiny pieces of at the edges of the rollers, and remove these pieces of paper. The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper to not feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

Paper jam

The printer hardware should even this out when printing. You should also ensure the paper meets the automatic feeder requirements of the printer.
If printing is skewed, feeding multiple pages or jamming, please follow these instructions (use a regular letter size paper to test after doing the steps given below):
Please check to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen. If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer and remove the paper. Open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fan belt. Take the bottom part of that belt and move it gently to the left. The cartridges should come out with it. Make sure the cartridges can move fully from one side of the printer to the other. Check also the output rollers on the bottom of the printer for any blockage. If it is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot. Turn the printer off. Next take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the paper feed slot (The manual paper feed slot is preferred, but the automatic feed will do if there is no manual paper feed for this printer) until it comes completely through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. Move it up and down and slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate this may work it loose or you may have to feed the envelope through the front rollers and push your way backward (please be careful here).
Next, take a damp warm cloth and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder. Dust may be coating the rollers there and as they become less tacky, they cannot feed paper correctly.
Finally, turn the printer upside down and carefully shake it for 10 to 20 seconds to see if something falls out of the paper feed path. Then plug the printer back up, take your paper out and replace it with a fresh, small stack (about 5 pages) of paper. Quickly bend the stack in an 'S' shape a few times to separate pages. Make sure it is lined up on the right side of the paper feed and the paper guide on the left is snug on the left side of the paper. Then try to form feed again. If that works, then try to print again.

Good Luck!!!!!

Left corner is folded down on page

Sounds like an issue with the feed rollers. The roller on the left side might be hung up and is causing the corner to fold over when the paper is pulled through. I would try checking the feed rollers in either the actual tray or the back of the printer. Another thing to check is the other tray (the manual one). Does the paper fold? this should help you narrow down where the problem lies.

My HP laser printer 1300 had a paper jam

When printing or copying, paper will not pick up or feed into the HP LaserJet 1000, 1200 or 1300 series product causing paper jams or wrinkled output. Symptoms are as follows:
  • The pickup roller will spin and try to pick paper.
  • The paper will partially feed into the product accompanied by a crackling, crunching noise then jamming.
  • The paper may feed all the way through the paper path accompanied by a crackling, crunching noise. The output will be skewed and wrinkled.
SOLUTION: Reposition the black Mylar light shields back into the proper position.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  2. Remove the paper and paper input tray.
  3. Slide hands, palms side up, into the paper input tray cavity (see Figure 1) until the fingertips reach the end of the cavity. Figure 1: Paper input tray cavityc00068598.jpg
  4. Bend fingers up to push the black Mylar light shields back into place. The proper position of the black Mylar light shield will be flat.
  5. Reconnect the power cord.
  6. Print a self-test/configuration page to verify product is functioning correctly.

Issue: More than one sheet of paper feeds while printing

Solution: Clean the paper feed rollers using the MX300 operator panel

sikaku.gif Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller (Roller Cleaning) Clean the paper feed roller if paper is not fed properly. Cleaning the paper feed roller will wear the roller, so perform this only when necessary.

1. Make sure that the machine is turned on, and then remove any paper from the Rear Tray.

2. Clean the paper feed roller.

(1) Press the Menu button repeatedly until MAINTENANCE appears.

(2) Press the l_mark_s.jpg or r_mark_s.jpg button to select ROLLER CLEANING, then press the OK button.

The paper feed roller will rotate as it is cleaned.

3. Repeat step 2 twice.

4. Open the Paper Output Tray.

(1)Put your finger in the rounded indent beside the Paper Output Tray and open it gently.

(2) Open up and set the Output Tray Extension completely by pressing down the hollow on its front side.

5. Make sure that the paper feed roller stops rotating, then load three or more sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in portrait orientation in the Rear Tray.

Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the left.

6. Repeat step 2 three times.

The paper cleans the paper feed roller as it feeds through the machine.

If the problem is not resolved, wipe the paper feed roller (A) located on the right side inside the Rear Tray with a moistened cotton swab or the like. Rotate the roller (A) manually as you clean it. Do not touch the roller with your fingers; rotate it with the cotton swab.

My HP printer is not feeding paper.

Here is the solution for your problem just go through the steps given below and you can fix it yourself.

1. Check to make sure your printer has paper in its paper tray. If your printer has paper, check to make sure that the tray is not overloaded. If you suspect your paper tray is overloaded, remove some paper from the tray and attempt to print again.

2. Use the same type of paper when stocking the tray with paper; do not mix different types of paper into a single stack. Mixing different brands and weights of paper in a single stack makes your printer more prone to paper feed problems. If you find that one particular type of paper causes consistent feed problems, switching to a different type or weight of paper may solve the problem.

3. Check to make sure the paper in the tray is whole. Torn and creased paper will cause problems with the printer.

4. Open your printer's rear access cover and inspect the paper feed rollers. Dusty or dirty rollers cannot grip the paper; clean them with a soft, damp cloth and water.

5. Count your printer's rollers. HP printers have six paper feed rollers; if your printer is missing rollers the paper will not feed correctly. Contact HP to replace the rollers and repair your printer.

Thanks.
