How do you replace DeWALT D55154 electric motor brushes?

Thank you very much. I have replaced the condenser but it still does not get to full speed even with zero pressure. Any other suggestions what could be wrong?

Does it trip the circuit breaker or does it continue to run just at less then full speed?

  • Johannes Salmon Stickling

After I have replaced the condenser, it worked for two cycles. it does not trip the main circuit breaker. The reset button kickd out after approx 6 turns.

I would empty the oil and remove the front cover (4 screws) then see if you can rotate the crankshaft/connecting rod assembly by hand. It should turn rather easily. If not then see if the rod is seized or partially seized to the crank. There are also 2 crank bearings that may have failed. The extra drag on the motor will cause the breaker (reset button) to pop. The reset is a 16 amp circuit breaker. What worries me is that you say it worked a few times once the capacitor was replaced. Whatever the main issue it may have also ruined the new capacitor (condenser) too.

Thanks, Brad. i will check everything as suggested at my earliest available opportunity. Your advice is valued.

The most piston-compressors do not like to operate with the powerplug without the pressure balance is addressed so that the engine freely without counterpressure can initiate on the pressostat-switch and release pressure after the top tankpressure and change not only the oil but also the sludge from the oil reservoir over time and make sure you at the check valve cleans thats on the the tank. check the motor stator studs on the engine that they do not become loose look for a smooth run and do not use too long cable reels to tight power group

A friend gave me a dewalt circular saw, the motor is running backwards, the wiring has been worked on, i noticed the *********** suppy wire is running directly into the motor housing

The simple solution is to take notice of the both carbon brush wires to the electric field change both IF YOU shure know that the electric field is mounted in the right direction , if the wires to the carbon brushes are having enough length then your problem is solved.

I have a dewalt flip saw with problems starting up it just makes a buzzing sound but if you turn the blade it will run whats the problem !

If the motor does not turn hot its is good news. Then try to clean the contact brushes that provide power to the motor, making sure the device is UNPLUGED from the electric supply. If that works, it is confirmation it is a brush issue. If so, consider replacing the brushes wich are unexpensive

How do I replace the electric motor brushes?

if you have to ask this question, you may be better off taking your air compressor to a service agent recommended by the manufacturer and ask them to do this for you. If you try this yourself and make a mistake, you could end up with a more expenseive repair bill.

Dewalt DW718 Sparks When cutting . just bought it

The people from Lowes were right.
There are two types of motor designs: Induction motors and brush-type motors.
All electric motors that have brushes make sparks where the brushes contact the rotating commutator. They also run less efficiently but they are a bit smaller than induction motors for equal power output. Brushed motors can also deliver greater power at initial startup.
Because the sparks in brushed motors create heat, the housing around the motors typically have ventilation slots for air to go through to keep the commutator cool. This means you are likely to see the sparks if you look in the right place.
Since it's more difficult to get an induction motor turning, they typically have a "start capacitor" mounted on the side of the motor to give an extra kick to get the stator turning. While induction motors use less power when running, the amperage they use at start-up is typically double the running amperage.

My motor brushes at end of life for a Black and Decker electric leaf blower. Where can I get them? Black and Decker leaf hog, model BV400 type 4, Cinderson 90510850 motor. Black and Decker site no help...

Try Platt Electrical supply - 800-257-5288 (Platt.com) BLACK & DECKER #89754-01 REPLACEMENT BRUSH. It seems the entire motor head was manufactured by DeWalt and is now obsolete. I don't know if these brushes will fit, but someone there may help.
Good Luck!

D55154 compressor - chugs very slow upon initial startup and motor reset keeps tripping. Pump runs slightly faster with further attempts and after many tries finally fires up and runs fine. Has done this...

If the unloader valve doesn't release the pressure from the compressor it will be hard to start. This is because there will will be pressure inside the compresser. When the tank is full and the compressor shuts off, you should hear a rush of air which is the unloader valve releasing pressure. The unloader is like a one way valve.
