Blue Screen in docking station

I'm getting a Blue Screen from a IBM Lenovo X200 while its in its docking station. The laptop boots to the OS correctly when booted outside of the docking evironment. I am currently running Hard Drive diagnostics..and I will swap the memory..Any ideal why this is happening?

Try going into your BIOS and setting the hard drive from your Docking Station as the primary boot device (1st on the list), then your laptop hard drive

Docking station usb ports are not working -laptop is lenovo x240

Hi

If all other ports on your docking station are working then this would point to either a hardware fault on the DS or with the DS drivers on the laptop, I would also make sure you have seated the laptop on the DS correctly as this can sometimes cause some ports to appear not to be working correctly

Added a ST95005620AS in Lenovo (2503) docking station as a second drive and it is causing a slow boot in Lenovo T60

Very strange, I added a WD 500GB in place of my CD drive in my R60 and have had no issues. I suggest the following:

1. Pull the Seagate drive from the docking station, does the laptop boot faster (confirm the added drive is really the problem).

2. Put the drive caddy back in with a drive with one of another brand other than the Seagate, see if the performance imorives (confirm its the Seagate which is the problem and not the caddy or docking station).

If performance increases in both cases, do some research on compatibility issues between the IBM and Seagate drives. I would also go to Lenovo's website and update the laptop BIOS... this can easily be accomplished by downloading a tool and doing it through Windows. I had issues with using a non-Lenovo battery with my R60 till I updated the BIOS. Good luck, let me know if you get to the bottom of this. Please rate me if this helps you. Thanks.

Machine reboots when it is hot docked

This sounds like a common feature of the T60, when docked it requires a reboot also try to reboot 2-3 time a day to help cooldown. IBM is a quality machine, even go as far as buying cooling extention for the T60.

Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD. Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD. thanks and have a nice day J-

When I install the driver and the computer restarts I get a blue screen that tells me a fatal error has occured and windows will not start normally. The only way to get past this screen is to restart in...

When you install the drivers, are you installing them while the laptop is conected to the docking station? If so, try installing with docking first. Then after installation, shut down your computer. Dock the comptuer, then start the computer back up. If you get a blue screen, go into your bios and make sure that your USB setting is set to High Speed.

Please make sure that the docking station is plugged into your notebook before booting up, there is an issue that all expresscard docks share with plugging the docking station in while the notebook is powered on.
If there is a switch located on the Expresscard
On-Pre-boot support
Off-Post-boot support (Default)
This switch is used to determine how the dock is recognized in the
system at boot up stage. Certain notebooks will detect the dock and not
work properly during a pre-boot mode (ie. trying to boot up on the
external VGA device, not the internal VGA of the Notebook). This was
observed in notebooks (Fujitsu, some Sony and Toshiba models) that
use a BIOS developed by Phoenix Technologies. If you experience
such issue, please turn the switch from the default "OFF" position to
"ON". You will only need to set it once.
