How do I turn on the wireless switch?

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y450-534 PC Notebook is supposed to have a wifi switch at the front right side of the laptop. If this button isn't available, then ot wil be a combination of the fn button and one of the Function keys. There is supposed to be a blue wi fi icon on the Function key. On a Toshiba it would be F8.

Leveno z560 wireless is showing first switch on the wireless device

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

I work for Lenovo and I know these computers very well. With your concern, I believe the wireless switch is on but still it tells you that you need to switch on the wireless device. Now, to fix this issue, do these:

1. Press and hold "Fn" on the lower left hand side of the keyboard, beside the space bar.
2. While holding "Fn" down press "F5".

By doing so, you have enabled the wireless capability of your computer. Enjoy surfing and thank you for visiting FixYa!

My wireless device has been permanently disabled ive tried everything to get it back up and running but nothing worked. i tryed system restore, virus scan, etc. what can i do?

Welcome to Fixya

Check first if the wireless switch is on. There is a small switch on the laptop which is located infront or at the side of th laptop. Make sure that is is set to On position. Try to reinstall the driver of the wireless card using this link. If same thing will happen after doing this troubleshooting. this means that the wireless card has gone bad. Lenovo will replace it for free if the computer is still under warranty. Lenovo support number is 18774536686 press option 2.

Wireless radio on Lenovo Y510 turned off even though the slider switch is switched on and lights up. How can I turn on wireless radio?

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya!

Another way to turn on the wireless radio on your Lenovo Y510 is to press and hold the "Fn" key, then simultaneously press the "F5" key.

This is an alternative way to switch the wireless antenna on or off without using the physical WIFI switch.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for using FixYa.

Switch on the wireless device first?

PLease locate the slider switch at the edge of your laptop. there should be a small slider switch for your wireless. Try to look at the sides or at the front of your keyboard.

My driver did not uninstall cleanly. I had to restart and do the uninstall again. And then the next reboot, the wireless driver got added automatically.

I tried this, but that didnt fix it all
Sometimes the wireless switch is off (Fn+F5) when you reboot the system (not the physical one).

Some people have suggested that you need to disable WEP encryption. Thats not necessary.
Mine works fine now, but it is frustrating (I have DSL and had issues connecting to the router too. try gateway.2wire.net). if that doesnt work try gateway.2wire.net/setup

Pl. tell me that the Y510 is wifi supported notebook?

Yes it is wifi supported. I have the same computer. Check your wireless switch it is located just to the right of the three blue lights. Switch needs to be slide to the right.
