Based on my experience, it is likley that the document you are trying to print was originally formatted for A4 and hence when you go to print it asks for that paper. I have also run into a few fresh driver installs that default to A4(european) paper sizes.

Are there settings on the control panel of your printer?
Is the tray 1 the MP tray? (The one that flips towards you)
If so, can you change the settings of the Tray 1 to Envelope on the control panel?

I hope this helps.

The pickup rollers are worn out. Replace them and your problem will be gone. While you are sourcing them, use some alcohol. This may give them a little more life.

SOURCE: default paper tray selection for HP LaserJet 4200tn

1) When the printer receives a print job, it selects the tray by trying to match the requested paper type and size with what has been loaded in the trays. Using an “autoselect” process, it searches all available trays for the paper that satisfies the request, starting with the bottom tray and ending with the top tray (tray 1). The printer begins printing the job as soon as it finds the proper type/size.

2) If paper is loaded in tray 1 and tray 1 is set "TRAY 1 TYPE=ANY" and "TRAY 1 SIZE=ANY" on the
Paper Handling menu, the printer will always pull paper from tray 1 first.

How to change letter copy size to a4?

If the paper is size is set wrongly, then you need to change the default paper size of your printer.
Click Start and go to settings.
Click printers. Right-click your printer model and select Properties. Click the paper tab.
Choose the size of paper that you require to use in the paper Size-box.
Make sure to load the correct paper for the printer mentioned in the paper tab.
Click OK and then close the Printers folder. Most of the HP Laserjet printers automatically detect the paper sizes loaded in the paper trays thanks to the sensors present in the paper width guides.
For a better method, go to the Control Panel on your computer and select Devices and Printers.
Right-click on your printer model from the list and select Printer Properties.
Change the paper size from A1 to A4. Set manual feed to A4 instead of Letter. Call Our Toll-Free 1-866-293-9220

This error is triggered if the paper in the tray does not match what the tray is set for. If this is tray 2 (the pull out drawer) make sure that all the stops are set correctly. Also ensure that your printer driver is not set for European (A4) sized paper, unless you are in Europe, in which case make sure it is not set for letter.

Paper Available does not include legal (only letter and A4). Tried to go into the Advanced Properties - no legal available? The printer recognizes the legal tray but the laptop does not.

Try setting the paper size in the printer settings.
Click Printer and Faxes then right click on the HP Laserjet 4350 and click on Properties, then Device Settings tab and click on the down arrow and click on Tray 1 or 2 that has the Letter Paper installed and select the Letter paper size. Then click OK.
This paper tray is now configured for Letter paper.

Load A4

A4 is for european size, if you are printing on a letter size this is a mismatched.
you need to change your files printer properties to A4 or letter size, or change your printer paper size.
better yet cancel this document and send it again , this time by checking the printer properties was set to your desired paper size

Hi,

Browse through the menu's of the printer
Paper Handling Menu, Set
Tray 1: Any size / Any Type.

Hp laserjet must manually push button to print

Hi,

Please print a configuration page from the control panel of the printer
- Menu > Information menu > print configuration.
- Check for paper handling details.
Following setting should reflect.
Tray 1: Any size / Any Type
Tray 2: A4 size / Plain Type

If the above settings are not reflecting in the configuration page, please change accordingly by browsing on the control panel of the printer to:
Paper Handling Menu >
Tray 1 Size: Any
Tray 1 Type: Any
Tray 2 Size: A4
Tray 2 Type: Plain

Let me know if that helps to solve the issue.

Regards,
Nikhil.
