If you send the board to us we may be able to fix it.

What you're looking for is having to replace the small SMD IC that the tracks from the HDMI ports lead to.

Sometimes that is all it takes, other times it needs more and just today I've had a case where we just couldn't do anything as the damage seem to have spread to the large processor.

(it wasn't on a Vizio board, it was on a Sanyo, but the concept is the same)

You may have a damaged set but there are a few things you can try.

1. First, unplug the set from the wall receptacle and leave unplugged for say 15 - 20 minutes. With no power connected, hopefully the circuits will completely discharge and perhaps a reset may cause things to work correctly again. Not optimistic this step will help but it is worth a try.
2. Try another hdmi cable.
3. Try another hdmi port on your tv if you have more than one.
4. Try another device. Perhaps the device you are attaching to your tv has a problem.
5. If you have another tv with hdmi ports, test your cables and devices with the other set.

Hopefully one of these ideas will help.

SOURCE: green screen vizio lcd

My 37" vizio I bought in Dec 2007 did this (green screen at start-up on all inputs). At first it went away by itself after you left the unit on for 15 minutes, but then 2 days later the whole thing DIED. Luckily Costco has a 90 day return policy on TVs.

Vizio tech support suggested this (before it died that is):
Please try to reset all setting and then to see if the problem is solved. 1. Press the Menu on your Remote Control;
2. choose Set up on the OSD;
3. then choose Reset All settings;
4. Press the Exit on your Remote Control to remove the OSD.

SOURCE: Vizio VP422 42in. Plasma Tv power problems

The main power supply , which is somewhat active even when the set is 'off,' is damaged.
With luck (a lot of it) it may have gotten enough spike to cause one of the (few) protective parts to fail, rather than serious damage having resulted.
Leave the set upplugged for at least hours (overnight is better) to allow certain components to discharge and remove the back panel from the set. Look for obvious signs of burning/damage and possibley a fuse.
There is a part that limits peak voltages coming in from the AC line that often explodes when hit hard; if not in pieces, it is a disk-like device, mounted vertically with leads coming from the sides or bottom of the disk. If you see only two wires sticking up and going nowhere, that is where the part once was and the damage is probably severe enough to make replacement of the supply necessary and this may not be the end of the repair.
Sorry -

SOURCE: Our 42" Vizio will not display/play sounds when

Hello

One board takes in the HDMI as well as the other signals. Sometimes part of the board breaks and that is what sounds like has happend in your case. This is a fairly common problem and most people tend to just live with it. Others sell thier tv and a few find the number of thier board to see if one is available on ebay or shopjimmy. If you are comfortable with electronics the board is not hard to replace.

Im sorry your HDMI broke....

I hope this helps

How do i stop lightning from getting in my hdmi lines and shocking my tv? 5 tvs went down in one storm

I would recommend getting a surge protector and using that to protect your televisions. This usually will stop something the lightning from killing your tv's.. I have a surge protector and can still use my tv, computer, anything I have plugged in during a storm.

Problem with Vizio SV421XVT

I am also having the same symptoms for my SV421XVT. TV works great except all HDMI ports are not receiving signal. Devices work through the AV Ports, and TV reception is fine. New Roku box is also not working through HDMI but works with AV. Wish I had a solution to this.

On a another forum for another TV it was suggested that boards need to be replaced. I hope I can get these boards for a reasonable cost.

I am having the same issue with our Vizio E550VL TV. Does your TV show No Signal on the screen? I was able to get regular AV to work with the Yellow, Red, and White cable to work but none of the HDMI ports would not work. If it does not power on at all it may be the power supply. I had to order the main board to get it to work correctly. Vizparts.com is where you can order it from.

I have a vizio vu37l tv..about 2 years old. Last night on its own it started switching to av1...comp...hdmi...all by itself..it even shut itself off. It also switched this morning....why is it doing this...

Vizio Has a big issue with all models working with each other, if either you have another vizio product in your home or a close neighbor, the remote signal is probably reaching your TV,

We had a lightning storm last night. The tv was working after the storm and was left on all night . This morning all that was on was the VIZIO light on the front and it will go off and on with the remote....

Sadly, only testing of each component can suggest the extent of damage. Many years ago, lighting can in through the window of my living room, hit the TV, blew the knobs off the TV (that date's me), shot into the kitchen and shattered the kitchen counter top. What I want you to take from that is that the course of a power surge is a bit unpredictable. No one can guess how far it got until you find a lamp that works.

HDMI ports do not work

Try another HDMI source and see if it works. It the second source works then its a compatibility issue with the first device. You also want to make sure what ever is connected to the HDMI is set for a minimum of a 480p output as HDMI will usually not compatible with 480i. Please take a few moments to rate my answer...Thanks...

HDMI ports do not work after lightning storm

Probably not, but your insurance should pay if you have a renter or homeowner policy.
