Shredder will not work. Sticker on back says ... "Shredder will not work if steel interlock switch is not properly inserted into slot"...
Brian, a lot of shredders have a microswitch in the bottom of the unit that has to be activated by a tab on the basket. One possibility is that the tab has broken off, which means that you would need a new basket, or there is a possibility that the shredder head is on the basket backwards and is not connecting with the tab. The only solution with respect to safety is to order a new switch from the companuy that manufactures/sells this shredder, and mount it according to the manufacturer/sales company's instructions.
If you want to bypass the safety of the machine, just keep the cables (should be 2, + eventually a ground cable) open, or shorted, depending of the machine's configuration. Remember that this is on your or your collegaues own risk!! A shredder can easily bite your finger off!

it is not available, you could find the interlock switch and jump them...cut wires off of switch and twist together, then use electrical tape.
