More than likely the regent system is needing and alternate audio source, via- analog, digital coax, optical ect... HAs it always been this way, or use to work?

check your cable settings if its inserted in the correct plug-in....also check if its not muted....also try to play other disc if there is a sound coming from the speakers

Unfortunately, manufacturers have decided we no longer need analog audio output jacks. I will never understand why. They do however still include an optical audio output connection. Go on Ebay and look up optical to analog audio output adaptor. Should run you about $20. You may also findnone at Best Buy but will set you back $60. Be sure to set the TV settings to PCM audio output. Otherwise you'll get no sound.

Samsung HTX715 will not play 5.1 surround sound from TV signal only works from DVDs any ideas, back speakers do not produce any sound

In any native or automatic sound mode the HT will only produce mutichannel sound from multichannel sources delivering a digital bitstream. Is that the case with the TV? The best source for TV related audio is from the source, usually the cable box. Read the manual.

My Phillips HTS3520 plays DVDs fine and the sound is excellent. However, it is not playing the TV channels thorugh the theatre system.

Without more data, I can only make some general suggestions.

First: Check your cables. If you are using a converter box, there must be a set of audio and video cables going from the cable box to the Home Theatre unit. These will be a yellow/white/red set of cables. Second: If these cables are plugged into "AUX1" or "AUX2" make sure this is what reads on the front of the HT unit. You already have cables going from the HT to the TV because your DVD works.

Although this sounds obvious (please forgive me-I am not underestimating you) IF your TV receiver is 6 years old or more, and you are NOT using cable or satellite, there will be nothing for your set to pick up since the conversion from analog to digital.

All audio is going to Tv then to HT box and plays all through hometheater box when it is on. Try the optical cable

i know this is going to sound stupid but i couldn't get mine to work either after following every instruction to the T. I then rechecked my optical digital connections again and found that I neglected to remove one on the rubber protective endings. I took it off and plugged the end back into my TV and BINGO! OK. For all you regular Joe's like me here's the fix--plain and simple! I have Dish Networks HD receiver, an LG Home Theater System (LHB953) and an LG HD Television - although I suspect this applies for most LG TV-to-LG Audio Systems used in combination with a HD TV). My problem lied within the LG to LG setting known as SIMPLINK which tries to "auto-configure" everything between LG to LG devices.

Do this to make your HD TV (using Dish/DirecTV) play it's HD video display from the satellite provider but play the audio over the LG surround sound speakers:

1. Plug a HDMI cable from your satelite receiver's set-top-box to your HD TV. This will carry your HD "video" ONLY. Click "Input" on the TV remote until the HD video signal shows your desired TV channel from your satellite provider.

2. Plug an HD Optical cable (the one with the red laser) from your LG HTS (Home Theater System) to your satellite box. This will carry your HD "audio" ONLY.

3. This is the magic everyone seems to be overlooking. On the LG TV remote, go into the menu options and disable SIMPLINK by setting SIMPLINK=OFF. This feature allows the video and audio signals to be split over 2 different ports: HD video goes over the HDMI cable and the audio to go over the HD Optical cable.

Hope this helps!

How do I get my tv to play through the surround sound

If you have direct cable into the television, you will need to use an audio output if available on the back of your set into your HT system.

If you are using cable w/ a cable box you have two options. You can still connect everything directly into the TV then reroute the audio to the HT system... or, you could hook only video to the TV and audio from the cable box to the HT system. Really up to you.
