Tom Tom one Will not perform setup, locks up at voice selection.
Device was working fine for 4 months, until the 23rd. Used it to navigate to an address, worked. Turned off. When I turned it back on to navigate to a different address unit did some sort of reset turned itself off, rebooted and came on in the setup mode. Performed setup steps but will not go pats voice selection. Tried different things but when a button is selected in "voice selection" -Cancel, -Select, the device freezes for about 60 sec then restarts again in the setup mode. You can cycle through the voices and "test" them but you can't save a voice.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t3818168-tomtom_130_apps_in_foriegn_language Basically: 'Change preference' (look for Spanner image Icon) -> Scroll right Arrow until 'Change language' (look for Flags image Icon) -> Select English -> Select an English Voice To set Home address:
''Change preferences' -> scroll right to get 'Change Home Location' -> use 'Adress' to enter new address or 'Recent destination' to select a recently entered 'navigate to' address.
Hope it helps. Let me know how you go and good luck.
You have not set a (male or female) voice to be used by your Tomtom One device: use 'Change preferences' -> use Right arrow to get second creen for your preference 2 of 5 -> 'Change voie' -> scroll to 'select a voice' -> Click 'Test' to hear selected voice sample dialog -> Finally, click 'Select' when you are happy with the selected voice. If you need additional voices, use TomTom Home to download them. Hope it helps: let me know how you go!
i had the problem that when selecting the voice, the device would freeze up then restart sending me to the beginning of the preferences. what i did to fix this is connect the device to my laptop and start tomtom home. on the third page select operate my device. this let me finish selecting the preference options through the computer. after that my gps came up.
Tap "Change language" button to change the language You can choose from a wide range of languages. When you change the language, you are also given the opportunity to change the voice.

I have had the same problem. I bought my gps used.I soon found out sound would not come out of the gps untill I taped on the back of the gps. I solved my problem. The voice coil in the speaker becomes detached. Their are 4 screws in the back of the gps once you open up the gps the speaker is attached to the back of the inside of the gps. You have to carefully detach the speaker from the back of the gps ( I used a small flat head screw driver like one from a eye glass repair kit ) then press lightly on the center of the speaker wile the gps is trying to talk (hopefully when you do this the speaker will make noise). I stacked 2 dimes in the center of the housing of the speaker then reatached the speaker to the housing thus sandwitching the 2 dimes between the housing and the center of the speaker. For my unit this put enough pressure on the center of the speaker for the system to work. Then I reassembled the gps. It was about 4 or 5 months ago and the speaker still works fine. Some times the easy solution works just fine.
1)First check the mute. 2)Make sure there aren’t headphones plugged in, that will disable the speakers. 3)Check the audio setup 4)Check your Volume lock
Changing Volume Lock The remote comes preset to allow independent volume control of each selected device (Global Volume Unlock). However, you may change the Volume Lock setting to Global Volume Lock so that one device’s volume will control volume in all other modes. After that, you can perform Individual Volume Unlock on a selected device to set its volume control for independent operation or Global Volume Unlock to remove all volume locking. Locking Volume Control to One Mode (Global Volume Lock) 1. Press and hold SET until the red LED blinks twice; then release. 2. Enter 9-9-3 and then press the mode key for the device you want to control volume (for example, TV). The LED blinks twice. Now when you press VOL+, VOL-, or Mute, the selected device (for example, TV) will control the volume regardless of the current mode. Unlocking All Volume Control (Restoring Global Unlock) 1. Press and hold SET until the red LED blinks twice; then release. 2. Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL+. The LED blinks four times. Volume is now independently controlled for all programmed devices. Unlocking a Single Device’s Volume Control 1. Press a device key (TV, VCR/DVD, CBL/ SAT, or AUX). 2. Press and hold SET until the red LED blinks twice; then release. 3. Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL-. The LED blinks four times. Volume is now independently controlled for the selected
I solved this problem by finding an answer on the Tom Tom website. Using a paper clip end insert it on the reset button and press for at least 10 seconds. The reset button is difficult to find; it's located close to the connector at the base of the unit. It is an annoying problem as it happens without any rhyme or reason. I now carry a paper clip in the car!
